"While we were a little nervous about the somewhat shabby area around this small, quiet hotel, we were quite happy to enter and find an immaculately clean, modernized facility. The parking area, while not a garage, fell safe and secure. The staff was incredibly welcoming and kind, the common areas fresh and modern and the room so clean and sparkling! Absolutely the only reason I had to take off a star was because the mattress really could use replacing. It felt old and I could feel the springs. But, especially considering the very low price, I would definitely stay here again. "

"We expected a kettle in our room in order to make soup, tea, coffee etc. The Google map showing the location of the property was also very misleading."

"The Campanile suited our purposes insofar as its situation. We were able to park the car safely and easily and take the bus into La Rochelle. We had a prob with the air conditioning which was promptly rectified/change of room and offer of one free breakfast. The room itself was spotlessly clean but a bit Spartan and the view from the window was poor. "

"When we arrived at 5.00pm on Sunday afternoon the hotel was deserted. Automatic check-in machine! If someone had been at reception we would have asked to change our room,particularly as the place appeared practically empty, because our shower head bracket was broken so had to be hand held for the entire stay. Also being sited on the 2nd floor was difficult for us as we are both over 70 and have both had hip surgery. We enjoyed our continental breakfast each day and our swim in the nice private pool in the early evenings. Thank you."

"We were allocated a room with a large bathroom for a disabled person as we wanted a groundfloor room and it was the only one available. The bedroom was in consequence a little smaller than others, but still acceptable. We enjoyed having BBC World TV We were surprised to find the restaurant closed for the weekend after Friday lunch. A bistro in Perigny ran by an English woman did a light meal but there is no full restaurant in the vicinity. This did not bother us as we intended to eat in the centre of La Rochelle or out at St Martin de Ré. "
