Agate Beach House - waterfront in Grand Marais

"We loved our stay at the Agate Beach House. It is such a fun place to stay. We woke up every morning to a beautiful view. We enjoyed the decks and the beautiful yard. The house is a quick walk away from Agate Beach which is great for rockhounds. We were there Labor Day weekend, so the parking lot at the beach did get busy during the day and also at night with people looking for Yooperlights. It was fun watching everyone coming and going and super easy when we wanted to join in the hunt for rocks. The deck on the garage is great for stargazing and enjoying the morning sun. The deck off the back was peaceful, and more private. Inside, the house is vintage but very comfortable with plenty of room to spread out. There were board games and plenty of books around for additional entertainment. There is no air conditioning at the house, but there are plenty of windows and great air flow throughout the house. The host also has plenty of fans available, if needed. The beds were comfortable with extra blankets available. Our host, Molly, was very easy to contact, and quickly responded to any questions. If we find our way back up to Grand Marais, we plan to stay at the Agate Beach House again!"

"Location was great, close to town. Loved the fire pit in the backyard. Lots of parking. We were happy to see a charcoal grill available. I appreciated the host checking to make sure we were able to get settled in. Would stay again when we travel to Grand Marais."

"We had such a wonderful stay! Molly’s home is beautiful, and she was incredibly welcoming. Our group included five adults and one baby, and we had more than enough room to feel comfortable.The home was thoughtfully stocked with everything we could need, including plenty of towels, toiletries, kitchen condiments and seasonings, laundry supplies, games, and even sand toys for the kids. There was firewood neatly stacked by the firepit and a UV flashlight for searching for Yooperlites, which was such a fun and thoughtful touch!The location is amazing and easily walkable to both the beach and downtown. It is also a perfect spot for catching beautiful sunrises and sunsets. We especially loved visiting Molly’s rock shop and chatting with her about the best local rock-hunting spots. We followed her recommendations and had an amazing time! The night sky was unbelievably dark, and the view of the Milky Way was absolutely incredible.This was such a memorable experience, and we would happily stay here again!"

"Charming little old house. Great if you have dogs for back yard. Stairs are a bit narrow so just be careful with that. House was clean. Lots of items supplied to use for beach trips if you forget anything. Books about rock hunting. Walking distance from the coffee shop, beach and main part of town. Great place to stay. Little pricey imo but given the destination it’s worth it!"

"The property has a great location and view. It has a very peaceful setting, and we really enjoyed sitting on the deck. We also liked the coffee nook; it was nice and bright. The cabin was very dark and could use some lamps in the living and bedroom areas. The carpets were very dirty even though we were asked to remove our shoes before entering the home. It could have used a full-length mirror; there was only a small bathroom mirror. The shower and sink drained very slowly - had to stand in a puddle of water while showering. Minor improvements would have made our stay excellent."
