My friends and I had a great stay at this quaint house that’s full of character! Quick easy drive to Sunday River. Plenty of beds to sleep in which is great after a long day of skiing. We particularly loved the heated floors in the kitchen. Seth is very responsive and went above and beyond for our stay!

Dirty, dozens of fruit flies, dirty pots and dishes in the sink, dozens of dying house plants, and the kitchen is a disaster zone. Pictures were obviously from several years ago.

Looking for the perfect spot to celebrate a birthday or enjoy a fun-filled ski weekend? Look no further than this charming 1860s farmhouse! It’s the ideal blend of rustic charm, comfort, and just the right amount of whimsy. The house offers plenty of space for a group ski trip with friends, with enough bedrooms for everyone to spread out and relax. The farmhouse has a lived-in feel, making it feel like home right away—cozy, warm, and full of character. The eclectic decor, complete with an impressive collection of plants (some might even call it a jungle), adds a playful touch to the space. It’s the kind of place where you won’t stress if you spill something—comfortable, welcoming, and perfect for making memories. There’s a fish tank in the living room that brings an extra layer of tranquility to the experience. Having the option to watch something on the 85” TV above or observe the fish swimming below was oddly therapeutic—honestly, it might’ve been the most zen part of the house. Between the hot tub and the fish, we had a full aquatic spa experience. All in all, this farmhouse is the perfect spot for a birthday getaway or a friends' ski trip. Cozy, comfortable, and full of charm, it’s a place you won’t forget—just make sure to say goodbye to the fish before you leave!

Seth was very kind, and communication with him was fast and responsive. There is an important note in the listing description that I recommend reading, and after staying here, I understand why it’s included. The house is very old, which I expected, but the biggest issue for me was the clutter in and outside of the house, and the number of dead plants, which seemed to attract bugs and made the space feel unkempt. There was a lot going on and cleanliness could have been better. I would suggest bringing your own towels too. On the positive side, there are plenty of rooms, making it great for a big group, and the kitchen—with its heated floors—was a nice touch. The hot tub was a highlight, and we used it every night! One concern was that there were times when someone stopped by during our stay without prior notice. Additionally, the back door, which remains unlocked and is used to enter the house, was walked through at 7 AM, which was unsettling. I understand that a big snowstorm required shoveling, but better communication about visits would have been appreciated.

This property is unacceptable. I truly can't believe VRBO allows such a dump to be listed. My son found seeds in the bed on the top floor, our best guess is that I mouse had been using it to store food. Later in the evening, we were all waken by my son screaming as he heard a mouse scurry across the floor in the downstairs bedroom. There was standing water in the dishwasher and flies in the kitchen. The entire house was cluttered. We left after one of two nights and honestly we should have left immediately. This was a terrible experience.Avoid this property. There are plenty of nice place in the area.

Friends and I have been going on a few big ski trips a year for the last 5 years. We aren't picky and err on the side of mountain proximity/cheaper, so we've seen a lot of less than perfect homes without much issue. Not as dirty as some reviews said, but definitely doesn't feel ready for public rental. Pros: 20 mins to Sunday River! Kitchen has two nice seating areas and heated floors. We cooked both nights and had space to set up and hang out together. Still dusty in places, but cleaner than expected based on some earlier reviews.Cons: Property had only two new 2-star reviews right before our stay, and host was defensive/unhelpful when we asked questions about details in them. Responsive to questions but almost no proactive communication.Wood stove/chimney and hot tub don't seem well maintained and wood stove was potentially unsafe. Neighbor knocked and shared a photo of the chimney spewing significant embers while in use.Fruit flies, mostly in kitchen, some elsewhere. Dishes needed to be washed before use. Lots of clutter, both inside and outside. Thermostat we were told about when asked was in kitchen, rest of house stayed chilly. Temp set to 61 when we arrived, took several hours to warm to 65. Showers not hot. There are only 5 bedrooms. All bed information must be out of date - no bunk/twin beds or accessible sofa beds in bedrooms. A (very nice!) tenant lives in building, but host didn't warn us/had no suggestions for how we should park to not block them in.

We were meeting several couples, we arrived a few minutes late to texts asking: are you sure this is the right place??? The yard was full of abandoned vehicles a camper, rotting sauna shed, junk all through the yard. I walked in to the smell of garbage and cigarettes, every inch of wall had some piece of furniture infront of it and tons of clutter on top of it. Stuff was spilling out of an open door closet. The Kitchen was absolutely filthy. Grime on everything, food debris on plates, cups, silverware and pots. We washed everything we used before using it. The kitchen was infested with fruit flies, when opening the dishwasher a cloud flew out. the rest of the house appeared dirty as well, except for the bathrooms. The bathrooms had been re-done and were clean. There were only 5 bedrooms-not six. Only three bedrooms had smoke alarms. No smoke alarms in hallways or common spaces. The wood stove had cracked glass and worn out gaskets, chimney was badly deteriorated, smoke leaked out of the stove/chimney all night long. My Wife and I took the worst Bedroom on the third floor since we rented this place. There were live wasps crawling on the walls, beds and floor. We pulled back the covers on one of the beds and found seeds and stems in the sheets. They use moving blankets for bed linens as well. We didn't sleep a wink. The hot tub smelled of hot dirty socks and is on the other renters deck. Out of Space-could go on.....

Our group of 12 had a fantastic ski weekend staying at this big quirky home. We had everything we needed for prepping a big burrito dinner (the kitchen had 3 slow cookers!). The host was extremely accommodating and communicative before, during, and after our stay. He graciously allowed a late checkout Sunday after a day on the mountain, and even mailed a forgotten hat back to us. This home definitely has a lived in feel, and has a lot more character than a hotel or commercially managed property, so be aware before you book. There were some places that could have been cleaner (hot tub, dishes in the cabinets) but the beds, bathrooms, etc were perfectly clean and tidy. Highly recommend this stay for any large group looking for a close by mountain stay!
