Hotel Schweizerhof Basel
10/10 Excellent
"Nice, updated hotel with spacious room and bathroom and just outside the Basel train station. All the local trans are outside the door, and it’s an easy walk to old town area and the major sites. A nice addition was the pair of ear plugs to minimize any train noise (but it was quiet with the windows closed anyway). Breakfast buffet was good too, and open 6:30-10, so works any schedule. Staff was very pleasant and helpful, and I’d definitely stay here again."
GAIA Hotel Basel - the sustainable hotel

"We recently spent 9 days traveling through The Netherlands, France and Switzerland and stayed in 4 hotels. The Gaia was the best by far and if we ever return to Basel we would absolutely choose The Gaia again. I am sorry that I cannot remember the name of the man who seemed to always be at the front desk when we needed something. He was so kind, professional and helpful. He provided excellent recommendations for restaurants, offered suggestions for what to do in the city, checked for our train platform when we left, and just went above and beyond without being intrusive. The property was outstanding. We had a room with a king bed and sitting area which was spotless, beautiful, comfortable, cool and quiet. Breakfast was delicious and staff delivered coffee orders to the table. The location is right across from the train station which we preferred for easy access to trains and turned out to be very convenient for walking the old city as well. Well done!"

"This is my second time staying here. It's easily accessible from the airport and to Basel city. You can get to Basel SSB station in 15mins. It's so such a quiet location. I will definitely be coming back again soon."

"The room was beautiful and the staff were welcoming in the evening and delightful even at 3:30 am. Because of our early flight out we were unable to try breakfast, but the staff was more than eager to get something to take with us if we wanted. There is also a very quaint restaurant that served delicious gourmet food and wonderful wines. Definitely worth another visit."
