"We were travelling back to England from Spain. The hotel was a convenient place to break our journey. Our bedroom was comfortable but the lighting was inadequate- far too dim."

"First, the hotel room, staff and location were great. It would have been nice to know that major construction has been going on for a while, and will continue for some time to come. In absolute fairness, this did NOT impact sleep at the place. It did distract from a welcoming feeling. Trucks, cranes etc were the first thing we saw as we got there. The parking (regardless of construction) is limited in the immediate area, but the Hotel has an arrangement with the immediately adjacent parking lot so that worked out good. The area in front of the hotel is the parking lot, so the ambiance of the place is not wonderful. However, everything you need is within easy walk from the hotel. "

"Hotel is really quaint and done within several very old buildings - as best as possible. Decent accommodations, with the givens of walking up and down numerous stairs, dark hallways, etc. Personnel there ranges from: exceptionally sweet young woman - who carried our heavy suitcases up two steep stairs (no elevator) - to a very unfriendly male. Requests like - making a call on our behalf to a beauty salon - were met with dismay (by the male). The breakfast area could be easily mistaken for a US Best Western hotel. Impersonal. Food as well. The only thing - that was really cool - was the giant mural with the Rabelais character - Gargantua (the gourmand). All in all it is an OK place with strategic location within the downtown."

"Wonderful place and friendly staff! Good breakfast. Internally, although it was nice and comfortable, I was expecting some “old”, castle-like decoration and furniture. But just the location and surroundings is worth the stay. And it was good to know it is a charity organisation. "
