The Inn at East Beach
8/10 Good
"Whist this hotel does not have, it makes up for its retro charm, location, and its nod to community beach living. There is no AC. We stayed during a heatwave and it was not an issue. All windows in every unit were open(and some doors) and there were ceiling fans that adorned each room. There were bistro chairs right outside your door so you can enjoy the sea breeze and the patrons gathered in the courtyard dining or lounging. The lobby is simple and the amenities were modest but you are less than a minute walk from the beach and across the way is an upper scale hotel with excellent bar and dining. Our bathroom light revved like a V8 and it pretty much vibrated the entire room when turned on, so we enjoyed doing our business in candle light. We stayed in #134 and paid extra for a partial ocean view. Don’t expect a view but pay the extra for a 2nd floor room. The bed was bouncy but comfy enough to rest and the towels are in their last stretch. But you have to appreciate that you are handed keys (one for the room and another for the back gate) when you check in. Bet you can’t remember the last time you used a key to access your hotel room!!"

"We had a comfortable stay at this value hotel. If you want somewhere just to sleep while not blowing your vacation budget, this is the place for you. The staff was friendly and check in process was smooth. The rooms are basic and there is no soap or shampoo provided but the room was clean and bed was decently comfortable. The ac worked great and the pool area looked very nice. There’s a grocery store, Starbucks and “99” cent store down the street."

"The stay at El Encanto was great. The view from both the pool and the restaurant were awesome. The food was great as well. Had both a dinner and a breakfast there. The roasted whole chicken was the best chicken I’ve ever had. It’s a bit removed from the main part of town, which some folks may view as a plus or a minus. Highly recommend."

"Nice room, comfortable bed. Nice lobby and welcoming staff. Also just a half mile to 101 freeway on-ramp . I had a busy day, and I came in late , went to bed and got up early and nothing impeded my time, So I appreciate that I could do everything quickly Since I was on a work trip."
