We had a wonderful stay in this charming rental in Trastevere. The location is fantastic, with plenty of great cafés, restaurants, and local attractions just a short walk away. The apartment itself is cute, cozy, and beautifully maintained, making it a perfect place to relax after exploring the city. We loved the vibrant neighborhood atmosphere and would happily stay here again.

The property is exactly as it appears in the photos. There’s a lovely atrium to sit in if you want to enjoy the serenity of the courtyard away from the hustle and bustle of Trastevere. The location of this place truly can’t be beat. You’re within walking distance of all the main tourist spots. After a day of exploring you can finish with dinner at some of the best restaurants in the city, then stumbled mere blocks to your VRBO.If you want to start your day with an early morning walk or run, you’re just a couple minutes from accessing the path right down to the Tiber river (no cobblestones!). There’s also a taxi stand and bus stops super close by.All in all, I would recommend.

Lovely apartment, great location

This was the first time I had stayed in the Trastevere area while visiting Rome and found it to be a fascinating location and wonderful apartment, especially with the lovely, private courtyard tucked away from the hustle and bustle. A nice retreat after being out and about in Rome.

Great location and helpful host!

The location of this property was ideal for being able to explore Trastevere while also having access to all other major attractions around Rome. Cecilia also was able to make our stay so much smoother by being extremely responsive for any questions or concerns that arose during our stay. If we are lucky enough to come back to Trastevere we would definitely love to stay here again.

What a Gem!

I can’t say enough good things about this adorable apartment in the heart of Trastevere but tucked in a courtyard away from the busy nightlife. The eclectic decor is whimsical but homey, and the place was spotless. We love to explore on foot. This location can’t be beat for the neighborhood right outside your door and the major sights, including the Vatican, that you can walk to on both sides of the river.

Excellent location and property

During our 1 month in Italy we spent our last 10 days in this property last October 2010. It was the perfect location and easy walking to all that Rome has to offer - Colosseum, Vatican, etc. plus a great evening location for restaurants. We cooked with fresh pasta from a store only 2 doors away, with fresh vegetables and meat from the local market only 4 blocks away. It was very quiet despite being in a area full of tourists etc. We would highly recommend this property

Just perfect!

Our week on Rome was enhanced by staying at this lovely apartment. The owner and her representative were extremely kind and helpful, the apartment itself was exactly as we expected from the listing, and the location was absolutely ideal. In addition to being walking distance to all of the major sights in Rome, Trastevere was wonderful for wandering, artisans, food shops, and restaurants. I have already recommended this apartment to two people who will travel to Rome this year, and I will be happy to continue to spread the word.

Roman Holiday

we spent three weeks in Rome. Cecilia's apartment became our home away from home. situated in the heart of Trastevere this was the perfect location for any kind activities. Even though the apart is in the middle of this livlely district, it is located in a quiet courtyard, where the din of the big city could not be heard. the check-in and check-out was very convenient and Cecilia accommodated our requests with kindness. I can highly recommend this place and would come back any time.

We loved our stay at Chez Cecilia in Trastevere

We found the apartment to be very comfortable. The location is wonderful, within walking distance or a short tram ride of most points of interest in the city. Trastevere is a wonderful part of the city, sort of like the Left Bank of Paris; lots of restaurants, cafes, shops, etc. Cecilia was very cooperative and communicative when we were making our travel plans and Elana was prompt and helpful in getting us settled in. We were celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary and this apartment made the celebration all the better. We recommend the apartment highly.

Girls Trip to Rome

I want to thank Cecilia for offering her apartment on VBRO. From the time of my initial inquiry until we left her apartment Cecilia was available and answered our every question and need. Her apartment was very nice and dequately equiped with everything we needed to make our stay comfortable. The location in Trasetvere was safe and quiet yet within walikg didtance to most major points of interest. I am so happy we chose to stay in Trastevere, it was the perfect spot.

Great location and appartment was in an oasis!

You walk through a large wooden door into a inner courtyard which is communal ( we thought it was private) but was very quiet and relaxing as just outside the main door is the hustle and bustle of life. So, a great location! The accommodation was good not brilliant. The kitchen needed updating a bit...the kettle needs replacing as too hot to handle! All a bit tired looking but we loved it nonetheless. Cecilia was a great host as we had a lot of contact finding our way there and she helped us with how to get the water taxi from the airport etc. We enjoyed being able to walk out and restaurants were all there waiting! Would recommend .

Loved Trastevere

Upon arrival I had to wait almost an hour before being allowed in the apartment, and I had arrived from a long plane ride from the U.S. Thank goodness for the jewelry store owner next door who allowed me to put my suitcases in his store while I waited. The apartment is mice and homey, but was not cleaned very well as there was hair on the bathroom floor and the bathroom tile wasn't cleaned very well either. Nonetheless, after settling into the apartment I had a pleasant stay and enjoyed the solace of the apartment. I would definitely stay again

Excellent location, good value for money

The appartment did match the pictures. It was really centrally located in the middel of Trastevere, a nice neighbourhood to stay. It has a lot of bars and restaurants literally around the corner. The appartment is located 50m from Piazza de Santa Maria (the main square of Trastevere). The appartment itself has a mezanine bedroom that is connected to the living room and has basic, but clean facilities. It's quite big and has a good wifi connection. Outside the appartment, there is a table and chairs where you can enjoy an evening beer of a morning coffee... it's not a private garden, but a courtyard you share with the some other people living in the houses or appartments around. I can recommend this appartment.

A quiet haven in a busy location

Off a really busy and noisy street, go through a large door and you are in the quiet communal courtyard where you will find this apartment. This flat is a generous size and with a small table and chairs outside it is perfect for springtime in Rome. The bedroom is in the eaves and but has air conditioning for those hot nights. Both the kitchen and bathroom are good sizes. It is an easy to spend some social time in the living space as the sofa is huge and the dining table a good size. The apartment is perfectly situated for walking to most of the main sites. But the excellent bus and tram service nearby makes it easy to get around. This is a great apartment if you like a buzzy area filled with restaurants and bars. Cecilia was a charming and helpful hostess.

Nice Apartment! Great Stay!

My dad and I stayed here for a few nights in March; I slept on the couch, which was very comfortable! The apartment was large for Italian standards and had every amenity you might need, and it was very clean. We had no problems with hot water or electricity like we have had in other apartments. The large courtyard was beautiful! You actually walk through two courtyards to get to the apartment; it's a nice quiet oasis in the busy Trastevere area. We never heard any noise from the piazza. Cecilia was very communicative and Elena, who met us at the property, was super friendly and helpful in explaining everything about the apartment. I recommend this apartment 100% and would definitely stay here again! Grazie!

Excellent Location and facilities

We have just finished a 5 week stay at this apartment and can recommend it to anyone wanting a great location with all necessary facilities. The inclusion of broadband internet we are finding essential for a successful holiday and the service was excellent. The apartment is exactly as represented, and best described as "shabby chic". The utilities take a bit of understanding but once you take the trouble to do so provide a reasonably high standard of accomodation. For example the washing machine is a combo washer and dryer but as the instructions are in Italian, English speakers would have difficulty understanding the programs (using Google Transalate we have tried to provide an English transalation of the instructions). Cecilia and her helpers were very responsive to all our needs. We were very happy with our stay in this apartment and would recommend it.

Adored Trastevere!

The neighborhood was fantastic and the apartment was ideal for our one week stay while visiting our son, who was a student in Rome. It was within easy walking distance of the traditional tourist sights. Trastevere is an absolutely charming area, with fantastic restaurants and shops, which provided a wonderful opportunity to experience the native lifestyle. One of our favorite restaurants was Carlo Menta, although everyplace we ate and everything we tasted during our stay was delicious! The property owner, Cecilia, was very easy to work with. Unlike many other rental owners, she did not have an increased rate for Sunday check-in and also allowed our son to stay with us at no additional charge. The property was very clean and and accurately represented. It was nicely maintained, although some minor attention is needed (some lightbulbs were out, the iron had a white build-up, and the hairdryer needs to be of replaced - and although it wasn't a problem, visitors should be aware that the dryer referenced is a drying rack, not an electric clothes dryer). We would would return or recommend this apartment without hesitation!

Perfect location, comfortable, simple

This apartment has the PERFECT location! Public transportation was excellent, the charm, food and bustle of Trastevere surrounding us, the river and markets a short walk away. And Elisabetta was very helpful and attentive. HVAC units worked well. Quiet for the location! And the courtyard was really lovely. Arriving without a personal meeting was no problem at all. Loft bedroom was comfortable (as long as you’re not too tall) and has its own HVAC, which is great! Our only concerns were around the condition of some things that really need updating. While some old furnishings were charmingly old and should definitely be preserved!, others were uncomfortably so - bathroom tile grouting needs bleaching or replacing, trash can is rusty - small things like that. The one big thing, though, would change the whole experience: the livingroom sofa smells mildewy and makes the whole place musty We ran the HVAC on “dehumidify” the whole time even though it wasn’t hot. For the person who sleeps on it, it is uncomfortable - with a hard edge down the middle. Replacing that sofa with a nice new, comfortable sofabed would change the whole place and make this a nearly-perfect guest experience.

RENTER BEWARE

While the location in Trastevere was great...the apartment has not been well maintained, nor is it well managed when issues arise. Every time we turned on the dishwasher the circuit breaker would flip, so we had to resort to hand washing. It also flipped the circuit breaker when we attempted to use the hair dryer. When we arrived the utensil drawer was filthy, so we had to wash everything before using. The shower head in the shower fell off mid week and they did not replace it for 2 days, so we had to shower with a hose. The toilet seat was practically falling off and it never got fixed. The so called "garden" area was not hospitable to sit in. It was NOT large enough for 5 people to comfortably be in. The icing on the cake was that even after 3 e-mails, I never heard back from Cecelia the owner...my conclusion is that she is using the apartment to generate cash but does not have a high degree of care or concern for the quality or comfort of the people staying in it.

Lots to Recommend, But Needs Some TLC

My husband and I stayed here for 8 nights in April. Elena was waiting for us when we arrived and was very friendly and helpful. This is a nice apartment...or likely was at one time, and there are both pros and cons. First the pros: location is great. We walked most places in the city and if it was too far, there was a taxi rank down the street. Although the street is lively and commercial, the apartment was very quiet and safe, in the far back of a courtyard behind a locked door and a gate. Restaurants, bakery and cafes are very close. Cons: First, it's important to know that the sleeping loft has a very low beamed ceiling. Really low. I'm 5'2" and could not stand straight up in some places. My husband who is 5'9" got up from the bed one night and slammed his head hard. This could be an issue for tall folks. The kitchen is woefully lacking. Although I did not come to Rome to cook (who would?), I always rent apartments when in Europe to be able to make breakfast, snacks and simple meals occasionally. The kitchen had two spoons and two forks; no spatula, no sharp knives to slice bread, and a plastic toaster that we could not get to work. The bed did not have a blanket, just a light bedspread. We were chilly, so found a cotton bedspread in a drawer downstairs to use, but no extra blankets. This could be a lovely apartment, but it needs a bit of sprucing up. It feels neglected. The couch was stained; the portable CD player had no wire to plug in so was useless; the corner in the courtyard belonging to the apartment needed sweeping and had uncomfortable folding chairs that had not been cleaned and so was not conducive to sitting out. Some care and attention would go a long way toward making this rental worth the price.

Spectacular Location, Excellent Value, and True Roman Charm

If you are a single traveler, couple, small group (up to 4) or family looking for great value and wanting to live like a Roman, look no further. This apartment is even better than its otherwise accurate description. Location: it is in the heart of Trastevere, next door to a wonderful little store that make homemade pasta; 3 doors up from one of the best fish restaurants in which I have ever eaten (Bisque); near Pharmacies, a Tabachi (for your metro tickets), a supermarket, wine stores, one of the best cheese stores in the southern end of the city, and the 8 tram which takes you directly to Piazza Argentina (major bus hub). And it is quiet, because set in the back of the building. The building. It is a secure building with a private courtyard shared by 4-5 apartments. Your door opens directly on to it and a small table that is always in the shade, and your view consists of a peaceful courtyard lin a17th-century or so insula adorned with geraniums and other flowers tended to by the building's fulltime residents (who were to a person friendly and smiling). A lovely place to relaz after a day of museums and walking (you can and should walk everywhere in Rome). The unit: it is a snug loft tastefully decorated with an eye to efficiency and comfort. The AC works very well, as does the internet; the TV includes satellite channels. The kitchen is typically small (they all are in Europe), and well enough equipped to make all of your meals--even the icebox is cold enough to freeze water, which is no small feat for a town whose infrastructure is so chaotically jury-rigged that it's a small miracle every time the light turns on. The bed upstairs is comfortable and the bullouts are an IKEA model I actually own so can attest to its comfort as well. The owner: was lovely. The old AC broke the first night I was there and the owner replaced it within 12 hours of my reporting it. One of the other reviews complains about non-responsiveness, which is completely inconsistent with my experience (and, I'll add, everyone else's). So if you (like me) have a bit of a taste for adventure and independence, and want to experience Rome a bit more intimately than you ever can in a hotel, this is an unbeatable deal and experience.
