This is a great property for young train travellers. It is literally across the road from Rome’s central station. However, it was not clear to me from Expedia’s booking site that there are 47 steps up to the second floor and no elevator, The staff arranged someone to carry my 18 kilo suitcase, but it cost a 5 euro tip on the way up and on the way down. Also, this is a guest house with no food available. There are basic kitchen facilities for the use of guests.

Such a great place to stay. Superclean, snacks and drinks in the fridge for us and an overall good experience for us. Everybody was very helpful and let us store our luggage both before check in and after check out. We highly recommend this for your stay in Rome.

The place is nice, clean, perfect location! the only problem is that they don't have elevators (lift) so if you bring big luggage, it will be complicated to climb up 3 flights of stairs.

Great stay

Due to airline trouble, I had to unexpectedly book a room last minute, and late at night. I am so grateful I booked with 47steps. It turned out to be a wonderful room, walkable to everything. I felt very comfortable. Thank you!

As the name of the hotel suggests, there are 47 stairs... Some people felt uncomfortable, but other than that, everything was very good. The host was very friendly. You can drink capsule coffee for free in the communal kitchen.

Convenient location, with good amenities.

I was able to check in early, which was great, because I was meeting up with friends and did not have to carry my luggage around the city in 28 degrees. The staff could not have been more flexible and welcoming, the room was spacious, clean and well appointed. The location is very close to Rome Termini station, but in a little side street, with minimal noise. It was convenient, pleasant and perfect for my requirements.

Great Find

Great find. Location was excellent. Close to the train station. Special touches such as treats left in the fridge, slippers and umbrella where well welcomed. A small shared kitched was great along with a coffee machine. Would definitely recommend 47 steps. There is no lift which may be difficult if you have heavy luggage to carry .

Close to the train station resturants was nice. The 47 steps were pretty ruff trying to get heavy luggage up the stairs. I would only go back if they had someone to help with the luggage

Perfect for what we needed

Two minutes from Roma termini. So clean! Convenient! Modern! AC great! Would stay here again in a heartbeat. Had a late night train and needed a place to stay that was simple to get to. 47 steps was perfect. Just know that you have to walk up 47 steps—2 flights of stairs.

Great budget stay in rome...

The room was very clean, and spacious. We were coming in and out at early/late times in the day and never saw a receptionist but the online check-in process and access was very easy to follow. The only issue was the surrounding area - as we had a driver, the store owner across the street and a guide tell us to avoid walking around the area late at night due to the homeless people that sleep close to the train station nearby and that might cause problems.

Not good

It is not a hotel, it is one floor in a very old building with 5 rooms. It is clean and right next to the train station other than that it is very uncomfortable as there is no lift and it is two floors up to the entrance (47 Steps). The bathroom is very tiny, uncomfortable, the shower was broten - we told the manager, but nothing was fixed-. Overall bad experience.

Rudia and Veronica were extremely helpful and friendly. They showed me to my room even when I arrived early, and when I interrupted their work to ask for help breaking my luggage lock, they cheerfully lent tools. (I had lost the keys. Travel tip: use pliers to break the tab of the zipper.) 47 Steps is very secure with three keyed doors between the street and each room. You’ll need cellular data to unlock the street door upon your first arrival, or make arrangements with the owners ahead of time. Location is just half a block from Roma Termini Station, extremely convenient for a stopover.

Tiramisu left in the fridge

If you think of it as a guesthouse rather than a hotel, it is a comfortable facility. The public area has a kitchen and a calatry. The reservation system here is peculiar. I was relieved to receive a message from hotels.com three days before my stay that my reservation was confirmed, but I had to follow the instructions to confirm my reservation. I failed to do so and did not know how to check in. Unfortunately, I never received the email that the staff said they sent. Nor in my spam mail box. When I pressed the doorbell at check-in time, there was no response at all. Perhaps it is not working. With the help of the master of the restaurant next door, I managed to check in. I was not able to get a receipt for the city tax payment because I had to leave the cash in the room and checked out. The room has been renovated and is very clean. However, they are not soundproof. You can clearly hear the noise from the room next door. The door in front of the common area was auto-locked. I didn't know this and left without a key, so I was locked out. When I called my family loudly from there, they could hear me in the guest room across two doors and opened the door for me. Oh yes, I should add that there was some tiramisu in the fridge left over from a previous guest.
