Check in was smooth, lake view room well appointed (double sink separate from bathrooms). We came to play golf, unaware of the amount of rain which made the course CPO! So we certainly got our exercise, but it’s a beautiful course. The restaurant at the golf course has a delicious menu and excellent service. We were there midweek, there was a dj outside but music, while nice more for a younger crowd.
While out of their control, the cable provider went out so we were w/o tv the second night and next day.
I’d like to go back with a group when the golf course isn’t CPO.

Disliked: Staff & service, amenities
Just stayed for one night to celebrate mine and my husband’s first wedding anniversary. For one night spent over $300 just for the room. The room had cobwebs, dust all over, bed sheets shoved in the corner behind the couch, and they couldn’t even be bothered to put a fitted sheet on our bed. Had no hand soap in the bathroom and they barely gave us a quarter roll of toilet paper.
We went and played the Palmer course and it was so wet our shoes got soaked, there was puddles everywhere, and our cart broke down and all they said to us was they needed to buy new ones- that more are broken down than not.
Pool was closed because it was raining out by then. A nice pool thought for having it inside and outside, but dumb for that same reason.
WiFi didn’t work and had next to no phone service.
Ate at lightburns for our anniversary dinner and got the chicken Alfredo. Chicken was rubbery and I would have compared it to Olive Garden, with Olive Garden being better.
There was also supposed to be a s’mores event and that just never happened, so there was absolutely nothing to do once it got dark out.
Couldn’t kayak, or go on the boat tour because it was sprinkling out.
Nobody welcomed us there, asked if we needed anything, asked how our stay was, nothing. It felt more like we were a bother being there and we should just magically know where to go and what to do.
For the price and quality of things, I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone and probably wouldn’t go back.
It just didn’t meet my expectations for a resort. Dining options were limited and expensive. There was only one breakfast place. Pool was nice but crowded. The lake and surrounding property is beautiful. Be sure to take the boat tour of the lake.
5stars across the board! The room was perfect and very clean! The views was amazing! Everyone was so polite and helpful! We loved our first stay at Stonewall and couldn’t have picked a better place to celebrate our first anniversary! Can’t wait to come back someday! Thank you Stonewall for a great weekend!
Fabulous resort, will return. The only downside was that there was a couple of strains of hair in the tub, and the grout was dark, so a remodel of the bath was needed to keep up with the fabulous room and property. Would give it a 4.75 out of 5. We went with our dog and everyone couldn't have been nicer. I would recommend this resort to all.
Lake view was really good - lake it self was also good $20 rental fee for kayak for entire day its a great price . - all together it was clean and dog friendly - also had designated area for dogs clean - however outside the building right next to bike rental - animals owners did not clean after their dogs so watch your step ;-) .
Our room 337 had not working AC - called a service / front desk twice it was fixed after spending a night in 80 degree room.
Beautiful grounds, peaceful quiet lake view strolls, lovely pool and fun sundeck atmosphere. Staff was exceptional and the e service prompt and excellent.
Room was clean. Disappointed that the mattresses had no mattress protectors or fitted sheets. It was a flat sheet folded under. Beds were very uncomfortable. Staff was so so.
This was one of our favorite places we've ever stayed. Opening up our curtains to the lake in the morning was magical. Breakfast was delicious and perfect, the pool was relaxing and the fire pit area was so chill. Very clean resort, and very comfortable beds.
Beautiful area and lake, plenty of walking trails on the grounds and near the lake.
Helpful, friendly staff. Very nice boat tour around the lake. The connected indoor-outdoor swimming pool was nice, and plenty of lounge space around the pool.
Not our first stay here, and won't be our last. We love the resort, it's very cozy. That said, they seem to run out of hot water at an alarming rate and with two young kids trying to get them cleaned up in an ice cold tub is kind of upsetting. They seem overall short-staffed but we still really enjoy this resort.
Be cautious with your expectations….for a $350+ per night stay, I expected better.
This place is overpriced. Know that there are 2 restaurants and 1 bar on the property for all the visitors staying there. All the restaurants are overpriced for the quality.
The good: Views are nice. Pool is nice. Patio is nice. Stillwater’s Restaurant breakfast buffet was good. Lightburn’s views and service was good.
The not-so-good: No hot water in the mornings….front desk seemed to acknowledge the problem but didn’t seem to care. Muskie’s Bar took over 2 hours…service was slow/poor and food not great. Lightburn’s food is not great for the price. Lobby not clean. The rooms are basic and a little dated.
Do your homework before you go…especially if you have kids. Set your expectations a little lower, this is a state park resort. Advertisements paint this place as much nicer than it really is. If it was more in line price-wise with $150/night and the dining options were better, I would have enjoyed the stay. Disappointed and will not be returning.
