This holiday cottage is an outdoor enthusiast’s dream. Situated in a picturesque hamlet within Arkengarthdale only a short 4-mile drive to Reeth and surrounded by the spectacular surrounding countryside. Footpaths and cycle paths can be accessed straight from the cottage door and an extremely popular pub, CB Inn, is within walking distance, less than 1-mile down the road.

This Grade II listed Dales Holiday Cottage dates to the 1800s. It is the end terrace of a row of only six holiday cottages and accessed via a short farm track.

The cottage accommodates up to 4 people and 1 dog. It has been fully renovated and is toasty warm with electric central heating, which includes under floor heating on the ground floor, and a multi-fuel stove. The cottage is tastefully decorated throughout and super comfy with quality furnishings. The cottage offers free Wi-Fi and a TV with Freesat. There is also a telephone for incoming and outgoing calls (honesty box provided).

Downstairs there is an open plan, kitchen / diner / living room with the double bedroom and family bathroom accessed from the far corner of the living area (please note there are 2 small steps to access this bedroom and bathroom).

Upstairs there is the master bedroom with ensuite shower room. The bed is a zip and link bed, which means it can be set up as a super king or as twin beds, please let us know at time of booking your preference.

The social layout of the holiday home makes it perfect for families or two couples holidaying together whom require separate bathrooms. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you should need during your stay, including an electric oven, ceramic hob, under counter fridge, dishwasher and washer dryer upstairs. A small freezer can be found in the shed housed on the patio.

Outside there is parking for one car in the designated parking area. There is a gravelled seating area with table and chairs to enjoy dining alfresco.

About 100 metres there is private off-road parking within the grounds of Swallows Holm Cottages for 1 car. This area is shared between the 1 Swallows Holm and the 5 neighbouring cottages which are also holiday cottages.

Local Area

Situated in a small rural hamlet in Arkengarthdale only 4 miles from the popular village of Reeth in Swaledale.


Getting there

From A1: turn off at Scotch Corner to Richmond
• In Richmond take the A6108 and then B6270 to Reeth
• Travel through the village of Reeth until you reach the Buck Hotel at the top of the green. At the junction take the right turn sinposted Langthwaite
• Continue on this same road to Langthwaite
• When you arrive in Langthwaite you shall see the small village green (High Green) with a bench - continue past this.
• You shall pass the CB Inn on your right and a road signed posted towards Barnard Castle.
• Roughly 100 metres past this there is a small hamlet of houses known as the CB Yard.
• Immediately after the CB Yard there is a turning down a track on the right, the farm gate has a sign on it reading Swallowsholm Cottages.
• Follow this track down the field, the track is bendy. On the second bend there is another track leading straight on. Ignore this track and follow the bend round to the right.
• You shall come to a metal farm gate, open this and drive through.
• The area you drive into is the private parking for all 6 of the Swallowsholm Cottages. This is where you shall need to park your car. However, you may drive down to the cottage to load/unload.
• Number 1 Swallowsholm is the first cottage you see.

There is one small step to access the cottage.
There is a standard staircase to the first floor with a sturdy handrail.
The downstairs bathroom has a bath with a shower over, so you do need to step over the bath side to use the shower.
