"This was an amazing stay! The property is absolutely stunning inside and out, with expansive views of the Douro Valley. Manuel is an excellent host and even made us dinner reservations at some great restaurants in town. The salt water pool was my favourite amenity. I wish we had planned to stay here for several nights and not just one. "

"The hotel was in a remote area but had beautiful views and was worth the effort. The swimming pool was a welcome addition as it was very hot when we arrived. The dinner and breakfast were good. There seemed to be a problem with the doors to the rooms which people kept banging to get them to close. Added to that someone managed to open our door when we were almost asleep and the hotel dog ran into our room. Very disconcerting and not condusive to a good nights sleep."

"This has got to be the most beautiful hotel we have yet to stay at. So clean and quiet with the most gorgeous views of the surrounding mountains. The restaurant serves healthy and top notch gourmet food. The breakfast is delicious with a wide assortment of things. We will be back to stay here the next time we visit Portugal! "

"This must be our 10 th visit over the years I love bringing friends here. The look on their faces as you enter the walls to reveal this gem of a hotel Brilliant check in with friendly staff . We were hot and sticky being 37.c The large pool was open and welcoming The rooms clean and well equipped . Just one of our party had a plumbing issue with the shower Breakfast was beautiful with loads of fresh fruits and yoghurts . Plus hot food if you wanted . Staff very friendly On our second night we ate the restaurant in the hotel. Although very busy with a large group the staff were great and one of the best meals was had by all. Our group of seven throughly enjoyed the hotel has many antique artifacts as is like a living museum Will be staying again next year "
