"This property served our needs very well. We had people aged 6 months to almost 91 years old and everybody enjoyed themselves. Plenty of space to be together or slip away for a nap. The owners were available and helpful whenever they were needed (not to mention friendly and generous with their hospitality - allowing us to pick some garden produce!). Highly recommend. "

"It was a nice get away for our wedding anniversary. We were able to bring our dogs and use the private strip of beach a couple of cottages away. This was a great quiet trip. The only thing that could have been better is the AC in the cottage. A window unit is provided but with 90 temps it couldn’t keep up."

"We had a nice quiet week in this adorable and clean home just relaxing in the pool and spending time in the kayaks. We ventured out for some yummy Mexican food for dinner, ice cream in Reedville, and the nearby cafe to try their cappuccino and breakfasts but otherwise spent a nice family week playing games and swimming. "

"My sister and I have always wanted to visit Smith Island. This house was perfect! Well appointed, comfortable, great location and terrific host. The golf cart was such a huge bonus. We had amazing water tours, walked, relaxed, spotted more birds than we could count. Everyone on the island was beyond friendly. Just had a wonderful time which was amplified by the great accommodations! "

"We spent a wonderful week here with our dog, and it was such a fantastic experience. The neighborhood is peaceful and friendly, yet still conveniently close to stores. The neighbors were lovely, and there were so many things to do in the area. One of the highlights was the kayaks provided at the house — we went paddling every day which was so much fun. During our stay, there was a heatwave and quite a lot of jellyfish, but the listing clearly mentioned this, so we came prepared with protective swimwear and it was no problem at all. Plus, there are beaches nearby in more open parts of the bay where we found fewer jellyfish. The house itself was perfect: very clean, with plenty of towels, shampoo, and everything else we could need. Megan even prepared a crab bait for us, so we enjoyed a couple of crab feasts right at the house There also was a secure fenced area for our dog. Another thing we really appreciated was the light for night fishing: it attracted lots of small fish, and it turned into a beautiful little show to watch under the stars. Overall, we had a fantastic stay and left feeling relaxed and recharged. Highly recommend this place!"

"Where do I begin?...This spot is where my daughter & her fiancé wanted to marry. The Rappahannock carries special meaning for them...it's where they began their love story, and where they were engaged. Pop Castle is a warm, beautiful place for an event...only surpassed by the warmth and kindness of it's owners. The home is historic, well-maintained, and so comfortable! No detailsforgotten. Amazing kitchen! Bathrooms immaculate and the most comfy beds! This is truly a place for relaxation and sharing joy with friends & family! It has every amenity for a large gathering...beautiful views and grounds, places to spread out and come together! As Mother of the Bride, I was not as relaxed as I would have liked! But...all the more reason to return with the folks we treasure for another "Rivah" Respite! "Even though we could only stay one night, we thoroughly enjoyed our time. So much detail to everything, games for kids, cleanliness, coffee for adults, its own little bird sanctuary out back with hummingbirds. The patriotic theme throughout was my favorite.
