"Lovely location near the beach, an easy walk. No snorkeling on Punalu’u, but we saw turtles on the beach every day and kids were boogie boarding and swimming. 40 minute drive to Volcanoes National Park, and we spent 2 days exploring there. Very open and airy island home. High ceiling made it feel very spacious. Feels remote, and the complex was very quiet. Birds and geckos will visit you on the lanai. No A/C, but it cooled down quickly with the breeze at night when the windows were open and sleeping was not a problem. Kitchen is very well equipped. Felt very safe staying there. Met some nice folks."

"My other half and I stayed at this place to attend my cousin’s wedding in Na’alehu and it was an amazing stay! We truly enjoyed the quiet, relaxing, cleanliness of the unit and overall property. We had some down time to relax prior to the wedding so we enjoyed some relaxation poolside and in the Jacuzzi. This place is a quick 10-15 minute drive to either Na’alehu or Pahala. Awesome hosts, with prompt responses! We highly recommend!"

"Clean unit, Old Hawaii style complex, grounds are well kept with pretty flowers and palms, coastal ocean view from this units ground floor lanai...pool has coastal view too. Feels private most of the time.Unit has 2 units above and one on side...if your neighbors are noisy at night you are going to hear them...needs some kind of sound deadening for the ceiling."

"Very nice vacation suite, nicely stocked kitchen with many appliances to use. The patio opens up just outside pool/hot tub area. Love the location, just down the road from black sand beach. This was our second time staying in Colony 1, can't wait to come back again!"

"We loved our stay here. This particular unit has one of the best locations on the property with a direct view of the ocean. We saw many whales right offshore from our unit! The location near the black sand beach was fantastic and we loved the ocean and turtles. It is a quiet and peaceful place to visit. The unit was very comfortable and clean. We had everything we needed and was perfect for a quiet getaway."
