Pleasant environment, friendly hosts. We met both Robin and Steve and the chef, Richard. All helpful and friendly. Robin is especially engaging and has lots of information regarding the area. We enjoyed our stay very much, even got a cheery hola from the parrot one morning!

The room was beautiful and we felt well taken care of. Unfortunately the cafe and bar were closed and Robin out of town, so I can't comment much outside of the room and general loveliness of Puerto Morelos. We'll have to come back!

We will be going back next October. We may bring friends and get the 2 bedroom suite. The food at the restaurant was absolutely amazing. They have a chef named Lucas who is quite talented. We highly recommend the Lobster rissoto. The host couple could not have been more helpful with amenities and suggestions for food and activities.

LAYLA Guesthouse was a new discovery for me. This two studio rental was a quiet retreat in a laid back town. The owners have thought of everything. From the king size beds to the private garden in each studio. Your hosts will help with any need you may have while in town. I will recommend this to my friends, especially for romantic getaways.

We enjoyed very much this little town Puerto Morelos witch is very vibrant and alive and so happy to be staying at Layla. Steve and Robin are beautiful kind people and very graciously introduced us to the area and best restaurants. Robin’s tour to cenote was exceptional. He chose the most beautiful and unique cenote and put together quit an incredible tour with walk through the jungle and authentic Mayan lunch. We were marveling that everything our hosts recommended was just great, including a healing massage with a very talented and incredible Marcos. Thank you very much for everything. We’ll be back.

We recently stayed at Robin's house in Puerto Morelos. We arrived on time with a taxi from Cancun. There was nobody to greet us, just a chalk board in the entrance with my name and the number of the unit. We found it and settled in. Great bed, good space, nicely decorated. Very much like the photos. One of the owner's big dogs walked right into the suite which was no problem since we're not afraid or allergic, but some people might not appreciate it. What we didn't enjoy was when the dogs relieved themselves outside our patio door. The gardener cleaned it up very quickly, but it was a bit off putting. We ended up staying only 2 nights out of the 7 - not because there was anything wrong with the place, but we decided we wanted a livelier town - Puerto Morelos seems to have turned into a retirement community.

Overall, we were pleased with our stay at Layla Guesthouse. The room was clean and tucked back behind Layla's cafe and on a quiet street. We did not have the opportunity to try out the cafe, dipping pool, yoga, or the upstairs bar - we were too busy exploring Puerto Morelos! The location is ideal for walking to any restaurant and the main square. There is a nice supermarket just a couple of blocks down the street to load up on beverages, pan dulce, and pretty much anything else you might need. Layla's has previously been described as having beach access, though that access has since been gated off and you have to walk in to town anyway to access the beach. There is a school directly across from the guesthouse, which blocks direct access to the beach. The AC worked great and the room stay fairly cool during the day even after we had turned off the AC and were gone for hours. We appreciated having a small fridge to keep beverages and snacks for our daily explorations. The bed was a bit too hard for our comfort level, though we've found that to be generally the case for our travels in Mexico. There was a party our first night at the upstairs bar that went until about midnight that kept us up that evening (just unfortunate timing for us since we had traveled overnight and were low on sleep). But once over, everyone dispersed quietly and we were able to fall asleep quickly. Robin, the host, was sweet and welcoming - as were the resident dogs and cats. :) I would definitely recommend Layla's if you're looking for a clean, cool home base for exploring Puerto Morelos.

I love Layla Guesthouse! The thoughtfulness and care for each guest is apparent from the moment I stepped through the gate. The turquoise Caribbean and charming children playing in their schoolyard behind me and the tranquil gardens of the guest house around me. Before I even set foot in my guesthouse I knew this was someplace very special. The proprietors, Robin and Steve, have created a space that is both elegant in its simplicity and invigorating in having sparred nothing to make this one of the most comfortable places I've been to. The king sized bed is amazingly comfortable. I could spend the day curled up with a cup of good coffee made in the well stocked smart kitchen and a book from the shelf . . . The shower is the best ever! It is gorgeous - like standing under a waterfall in the jungle . . . Stone walls, orchids just outside in your garden . . .naturally lit . . . The whole space is romantic and beautiful and calming, and of course very clean and brand new! Well thought out, too, with all the amenities and helpful charming staff. They will help you find your way to the wonderful beach, the best snorkeling spots, good restaurants, shopping, yoga and spa . . . .all in walking distance in this delightful friendly Mexican village. I understand that their very own cafe with a fresh menu and the freshest food is opening this month - can't wait to go back! Upstairs the best salon in Puerto Morelos is the only place to get that perfect treatment or cut - with a stunning view of the sea! I very highly recommend Layla guesthouse, and Robin and Steve, for the perfect place for your perfect vacation.

I would highly recommend Layla guest house. The owners Robin and Steve are wonderful warm hosts who make your stay a very enjoyable experience. The restaurant is lovely with great food. Apartment was cleaned daily. Top notch. Best stay I've had in cancun. I will be back..

My husband and I stayed 8 nights at Layla Guesthouse. Our room was clean, spacious, and comfortable and the cafe was great to have on hand, especially for early morning breakfasts. Lisa was our waitress on our first early morning meal and made us feel right at home with her kind personality! Ximena was able to answer questions and was often on site to check in with us during our stay. We went on the cenote tour with Robin, which was one of the most memorable things we have experienced in Mexico (we've vacationed in various locations in MX over 30 times). We would highly recommend this tour to anyone and everyone! Robin's extensive knowledge and enthusiasm for the culture of the mayan history, coupled with the fantastic cenote experience itself, is a once in a lifetime experience! Thanks for your hospitality, Layla guesthouse staff!

We loved this property. Robin and Steve were great hosts. It's one block off the beach in a quiet neighborhood. Just a couple minutes walk to the square in la puerta. The on-site restaurant is currently closed until mid-October but plenty of wonderful options within minutes by foot.

This is my first time staying at Layla's, but I felt very comfortable staying here. It has very nice garden with white pebbles in front of the room and cool breeze throughout the day. I didn't have to use air conditioner the whole time my stay. I also got a fantastic hair cut from Steve at Layla! I most love was the sound of ocean from the open windows at night. Thank you Robin and Steve!

We have been visiting Puerto Morelos for years, but never spent more than a few hours, this was our first overnight stay, Robin and Steve are great hosts, ready with answers to any and all questions. The location is walking distance and close to everything you need. Only negative is that the beach access has been limited by the town due to the location of the school located across the street. But walking is part of the fun of Puerto Morelos. They have activities almost everyday or night, like open mike night, karaoke, yoga, etc. We were not there the day the offer their Cenote tour, but heard it is great. Puerto Morelos was s sleepy little fishing village, but has been discovered by more and more people, so it was bit more crowded than on our previous visits.

Loved our time in Puerto Morelos.. Our room was perfect. Cafe was delicious. Steve and Robin were awesome! Can’t wait to make it back there for more of the beautiful beach, great food, and tequila & sangrita outside on the rooftop bar.

This is a most wonderful place to vacation. I love everyone here they are welcoming, warm, and friendly,. We were totally taken care of, any needs attended to. We WILL be back again. As my husband says, “this was the vacation I was looking for”.

We greatly enjoyed staying at Layla guesthouse. Like many smaller quirky places, Layla has some things to get used to. The key to the suite was difficult and finicky and took us a couple of days. The roof deck and dunk pool is a great feature and we used it almost everyday. Once in a while the owners would tour people around or send non-guests up by themselves, so don’t expect total privacy.

My husband and I stayed 8 nights in 'Selva' at Layla Guesthouse. We rated the "shower room"... the best "room" in town. Selva had the feel of indoor/outdoor living and we could step out of our room to enjoy the outdoor area including a cactus and palm garden + a hammock. The ocean breezes were our air conditioning. The pool has a wonderful view of the ocean and great place to see the sunrise. Robin and Steve were very friendly, inviting, helpful and knowledgeable. Steve cut my husbands' hair on a moments notice at his salon on site, "Salon Del Mar". We really enjoyed the Mayan Nature Experience/Adventure and learning about the history of Puerto Morelos. We enjoyed walking to our destinations in Puerto Morelos and also renting bicycles. My only regret is that I didn't take in a yoga class or two at the very top of Layla's, so I will come back to do that soon. Dios Botik, Mary Lynn and Lee

I had a few back and forth communications with Robin because most of my experience in Mexico is with all inclusive resorts. He was very helpful and I had no qualms about reserving the week of Dec 8 - 15, 2018. I read all of the reviews and since they were all so positive I figured I couldn't go wrong! Choosing Layla Guesthouse was the best vacation decision my wife and I have ever made. We are both in our early 60's and after a very stressful year we just wanted a place to chill out and chill out we did. We stayed in Guest Room Selva which is a one bedroom efficiency style apartment on the first floor. I wanted to take the bed home with me it was that comfortable! Layla Guesthouse includes a small cafe, a spa and a salon. While we did not partake of the spa or salon we more than made up for it at the cafe. There are a lot of good restaurants in Puerto Morelos but the best meals we had all week were at Layla's cafe. Breakfast was always special with many healthy options but frankly, I had pancakes with sausage almost every day along with fresh squeezed orange juice and coffee that was to die for. The location couldn't be more perfect as it is on a rather quiet street right across from the beach. The town square with all the shops, restaurants, bars, etc was a 4 minute walk away as was the best supermarket I have ever seen outside of the USA. As nice as everything was, what made the week really special were the hosts, Robin and Steve. These guys are so interesting and so charming I feel we have made friends for life. We went on the cenote tour and actually helped make dinner with a Mayan family at the end of it which is something I never imagined I'd ever have the opportunity to do in this lifetime. What wonderful people. I learned a lot last week and I believe I am a better person for it. My wife did a few yoga sessions and we wanted to participate in the meditation session but we never quite made it. If you want to feel what life is like in a small Mexican town that has not been overrun by tourists and big hotels, this is the vacation for you. Thanks again to Robin and Steve for making us feel so at home in their home. Oh - and the dipping pool on the 3rd floor with a direct view of the ocean across the street was a great place to catch the late afternoon sun! Definitely a habit I could get used to.
