They switched our room at the last minute so there was no tub. Traffic noise was loud due to the fact that we were placed in the room closest to the highway. Room was nice and clean. Amenities were good. Large room with fireplace.
This is a beautiful property with large suites and helpful staff. And how can you beat a room in wine country with stairs directly to the tasting room? We will return.
The room was absolutely fantastic!! But, here's the thing, I arrived around 6:30 in the evening, after the winery had closed. I was the ONLY person on the ENTIRE property all night long. It was a super weird feeling. It was like an end of the world apocalypse movie where the survivor stops at some random place to stay for the night. But overall, it was a cool place and the room was amazing!
Unique experience with a kind staff willing to help. Staff were personable and set us up for a great stay in a relaxed, private environment. Our room was beautiful and their wine recommendations ensured we enjoyed our time there.
The rooms were absolutely beautiful! Received complementary glass upon arrival and bottle in room..both were fantastic. Rooms were quiet and very clean. Would absolutely recommend!!
We did not see any staff which is how my wife and I prefer it so that worked out great!
The room was beautiful but definitely a little worn. The bed was so comfortable that we are planning our next visit just for that alone however next time I would like to be able to use the bath unlike this time because of the 3 unidentifiable hairs. The thermostat was locked at 72 with a note under it saying not to turn under 69 however it was locked so we were unable to modify the temp. We would have slep the the door open but it sss raining :(

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
The room and the bed was amazing. No elevator or breakfast in the morning for the price was a little sad.
Absolutely wonderful. Justice and Omia (sp?) were the most gracious, delightful and accommodating hostesses handling every aspect of our stay… food, wine tasting, check in etc. Highly recommend this establishment!!!!
Excellent stay. Highly recommend. Room was better than expected. Plus, we received a complimentary bottle of wine and a generous pour in the tasting room.
Truly a find! Large, comfortable suite, private deck overlooking courtyard and river. Winery with food options downstairs, close to everything…can’t wait to stay again in warmer weather!
Beautiful adobe style property. Very unique for the area. Spacious, spotless and well appointed. Miles above your average chain hotel. We had some fantastic wines and charcuterie. Thank you Michelle, Bertie and chef for making our stay memorable! Would love to come back and explore the area.
Absolutely loved it here. We are already planning our next trip back. The complimentary glass of wine upon arrival was such a nice touch, as was the free bottle in the room. The staff was MORE than helpful. We ate at the restaurant multiple times and loved it. Perfect place to stay for a couples getaway!
Beautiful and spacious room was comfortable and private. The bathroom shower was amazing! We arrived after hours but, because we read the email they sent in advance, we knew were to find the exterior entrance and had our code. Pro Tip: READ YOUR EMAIL IN ADVANCE! Would definitely recommend if you are able to navigate stairs. If not, find somewhere else.

PROS:
- beautiful room
- delicious wine!
- terrace was nice (no mosquitos!)
- kind housekeeping
- quiet
- safe area
- private back entrance for guests not wanting to go through the tasting area
CONS:
- check in person was busy (their main job was serving in the tasting room)
- AC temperature is locked unless you call the manager. Once they turned it down to 68, the actual room temperature was 75
- no microwave or freezer in room
This was an absolute gorgeous room and wonderful amenities. I gave it a 4 for facilities because it is very difficult to tote your luggage up the outdoor staircase. It was raining the night we arrived and the only way to access your room is via an outdoor staircase. Which was not fun! However, I would definitely stay here again and the stairs didn’t really deter me too much. Berta was so kind and was really the only staff member we interacted with.
It’s pretty landscaping and the building and room are very clean, large and have nice decor. But I am the only person on the entire property. 0 staff, 0 other guest! It feels like the Shining. I should have been made aware of what this was gonna be like before I reserved it. Also, the directions say to go to the south side of the building for the side entrance by going around to the right of the front door. That is absolutely the North side of the building and there was no one around to help me. For miles!
WARNING: Misleading Advertising and Poor Experience at Desert Wind Inn
We booked the Desert Wind Inn expecting the peaceful, wine-filled escape advertised on their website—wine tastings, evening dinners, and relaxing by the fire with a glass of merlot. Instead, we were met with cold service, subpar wine, and an oddly restrictive environment that felt more like a budget motel than a luxury retreat.
We arrived on May 29, 2025, around 12:30 PM, and were greeted with a dismissive “What do you need?”—no welcome, no warmth. When we mentioned we hadn’t received the promised check-in email, we were eventually handed a card with a code and no explanation. We later realized the room was ready, but no one told us.
We tried to enjoy a wine tasting while we waited, but the wine was mediocre, and the service was borderline hostile. The only staff member present made no effort to engage or offer guidance. We waited 45 minutes for a salad and bread, despite being the only guests.
At 3 PM, we found our room ourselves. Posted on the door was a sign that the entire property shuts down after 5 PM (7 PM on weekends). No bar, no patio, no restaurant, no access to anything—and an alarm if you try to leave. We felt trapped. The room itself was loud (next to a highway), stuffy, and smelled of exhaust.
No breakfast, no charm, no hospitality. We paid a premium for what felt like a bad roadside inn. Do not stay here if you’re looking for a wine country experience.
1/10 – would never return.
