"This grand old pub was beautifully refurbished just over a year ago, with William Morris decor apparent everywhere. We were particularly impressed by the young staff who work hard. We were greeted warmly by Ryan who was a stand-out team member that seems to spend most of his life in the pub. Our room was stylish and immaculately clean on our arrival. There was a fantastic community feel to the place and a number of locals chatted with us. The experience was completed by good food and well-kept beer. The daily cleaning team were fab and fussed around us delightfully to ensure we had everything we needed. Defined protocols for daily bedroom cleaning would help - we returned on some days to find that some bins had been emptied and not others, and our bed was not re-made during our stay. Better quality bed linen would also enhance the experience.
All-in-all the Pencelli Arms is a real gem in the Welsh Valleys. Now that we have relatives in the area, we will be back!"
