"I’m disabled and poor sleep and stress can often trigger a flare of my symptoms. The disabled room I was staying in is through one door in proximity to the bar/reception. I was kept awake most of the night, until finally I called the hotel at 2.00am and asked if there were people sat at the bar. I was told yes and I explained they were keeping me awake with rowdy cheering, shouting and laughter. The noise did stop after that, but my pain symptoms were already triggered. I reported it to the manager in the morning and asked that I be contacted once she had investigated. Zero contact regarding the issue. Would not stay here again or recommend it."

"The bed in our room was very comfortable and the room and bathroom had everything we needed for a nights stay. We had breakfast and was disappointed with the quality for the price - the poached eggs were hard and instead of the sourdough it stated on the menu, it came with cheap white bread. This was rectified, however we had to (obviously) wait for our breakfast to be re cooked and our family (who had ordered something different) had finished their breakfast by the time ours arrived. They did take our drinks off the bill, but for £14 each we feel it should have been right the first time. "

"We stayed here overnight for my dad's 80th event. The hotel was recently renovated and the events team were helpful during the booking and setting up process. However, this is where it ended. This hotel is clearly under pressure to cost cut and it shows everywhere. For the event, while the room was set up fine, the catering was awful - woefully under catered and the quality was terrible considering the cost. We complained and we were told that they had been instructed not to 'over cater' for events, so they count out every canape (despite cancellations, there weren't enough). The canapes were so miniscule that even if they had counted them, they weren't enough for one per person. They brought out some more food but by that point people had got beyond being hungry. What came out was so low quality, it was like it had been dumped out of Costco onto a tray. The hotel room was nicely furnished but the energy saving lights are so dim you can't see anything, there was hardly any shower gel in the bottle, the bath was slippery, and the temperature was hard to control. There was a bottle of water and glasses with a plate left outside the room the whole time we were there. The worst was the breakfast though. There isn't enough space in the restaurant for the number of guests so there's a long queue. Then there is no food - same as the event the night before - just nothing to eat, and what was there was cheap and poor quality. Overall disappointing."

"A beautiful hotel set in equally beautiful surroundings. Staff were wonderful. Food in restaurant was five stars. We will be back. Perfect hotel to stay for walks around area. Cannot recommend enough."

"This hotel was in a beautiful location with stunning grounds (which needed a bit of maintenance). the bar, reception, restaurant & seating areas within the main hotel were beautifully updated but I stayed in a room out the back in a separate wing and my patio door was broken and could not be locked so i had about 1/2 hours sleep - worrying about someone coming into my room. This whole block needs serious renovation. All in all though the room - even though it needed a complete update, the bed was comfortable and the linen on the bedding was lovely. Lovely meal in the restaurant & the breakfast was delicious"

"Pictures on Hotels.com are misleading! It has pictures of the bar in grand rooms but this is in a separate building not open to the public and the bar here was only for events. These pictures should not be attached to this hotel. It’s like putting pictures of The Savoy bar on a Premier Inn site. How is this allowed."

"The rooms were very spacious and made to feel very cosy. Beds very comfortable. Staff very accommodating and helpful. Very clean."

"Room was very cold ( plastic curtains over large patio door ) water was lukewarm, toilet cistern ran all night . Only 4 UHT milk and one earl grey tea bag !!Charged for parking in The Burford Car Park Area to right of room block on grass was covered in dogs mess !!Shocking place "

"We could not have wished for a more perfect host. Liz is simply the best! The house was perfect and it’s our second stay -we love it and it feels so homely and beautiful. "
