4BR 1684 Historic Nathaniel Church House downtown

Go back in time and take it easy at this unique and tranquil getaway in one of the oldest historic homes in the United States. Built in 1684 the landmark Nathaniel Church House is nestled between 3 museums, a short walk to the Mayflower ship in the harbor & all restaurants and sites, this beautifully appointed 4BR suite has, 2 baths, a garden, a patio with Jenney Grist Mill and pond views is without a doubt, a one-of-a-kind place to stay.
The space
I want to share with you the Nathaniel Church house, built by my 9th great grandfather, a shipbuilder, in 1684. It is a precious landmark and one of the oldest timber houses in downtown Plymouth. To get the most out of the description please see the floor plans of the house in the photos section.

The Nathaniel Church House is meticulously restored. I live on the ground floor. It is my private space. You have private, front door access and have the entire upstairs. You also have access through the side gate to two tiers of gardens, a private boardwalk, and a river edge walk. To the left of the house is the oldest house in Plymouth, The Sparrow Museum. To the right, is the Jenny Museum and, across the river at the back of our house, is the working Jenney Grist Mill Museum, restaurant, and Museum Gift Shop as well as a pretty town park and pond.

The indoor pool/waterpark is not onsite. Pool passes are available to guests by purchasing them daily from the John Carver Inn across the street. They provide towels. They also have spa facilities, a restaurant, and a bar just steps away. They serve breakfast daily and lunch and dinner most evenings.

If you want to charge your EV vehicle you can rent the driveway charger ahead of time. I also use it to charge my vehicle. It is $15 per charging session and must be scheduled so as not to interfere with charging my vehicle. If you want exclusive use of the driveway and unlimited access to the charger it is $25 per day added to your bill. Please make the request ahead of time so that I can make other plans for my car. (I will charge my vehicle when you are out and about if needed). The driveway is otherwise reserved for my personal use.

The house may be very old but it has many modern amenities like central UV and HEPA filtered AC and central heat, a four satellite Orbi Mesh WiFi 6 system with ethernet hook up, providing the fastest internet available anywhere. Every room has multiple ways to charge your devices, even your high-powered laptops. All areas have USBA, USB3, and USBC charging areas. Every bedside table can charge your phones, tablets, and other devices. The desks and the tables in the sitting areas all can charge laptops, you only need to bring your cables.

Sleeping 9 adults in three beds, a pullout sofa, a large sofa, and one child or young teen single-sized bed, it is the perfect place to vacation and meet up with family, or have a tranquil working getaway!

There are places to sit and chat or, if you prefer, play board games, chess, or checkers, read or curl up, and watch TV through the provided Amazon Firesticks. The TVs do not get a signal from an antenna or cable. You will need to remember to bring your username and password to log in to receive your preferred channels and turn those apps on. Usually, you will need to have your cable service username and password for anything that you watch through cable. Make sure to log out again when you check out.

Please note you have a kitchenette in the sitting room alcove with microwave, toaster, coffee maker, kettle, egg poacher, water cooler, and mini fridge - see pix - as well as an additional coffeemaker, kettle, microwave, and tiny fridge in the Orlap bedroom.

You also have *shared* kitchen access to the cellar kitchen, accessible through the exterior basement door. (Same keycode as your front door keycode). There is no fridge. There is a kitchen sink, dishwasher, convection oven/microwave combo, induction hotplate, mixer, blender, freezer, food processor, pots and pans, and utensils.

There is a pet fee. Children under three, who sleep with their parents, but who would bring the total guest count above 10, can be accommodated at the regular price with written permission and are charged as a child.
Guest access
Guests enter through the front door with a keypad. The driveway is for my car only but there is plenty of free parking around the corner in the Jenney Grist Mill public parking lot. If you want to use the driveway it is $25 per night including the use of the EV charger.

You have access to the entire upstairs of the house but not the attic and one closet.

The downstairs, patio, and cellar office are my private spaces. But there is shared access to the garden, both upper tier and boardwalk as well as shared use of the cellar kitchen and laundry room.

The cellar is accessible via the cellar door. To get there you go out your front entrance and around to the side gate, past the patio, and down a set of stone steps. Follow the brick path around the lower garden tier to the cellar door. Your same keycode to the front door will also operate the cellar door lock. The laundry room and kitchen are to the right. My office is to the left.
Other things to note
It is great to have you with us but we ask that you please do not smoke or use drugs on the property. This is my livelihood and I can't afford to mess this up for the next guests. When you get a chance, please read over the house rules before you come and ask me any questions.

If you are two guests or fewer *and* you only use one of the bedroom rooms, the cleaning fee will be adjusted down from $150 to $100 after confirmation from my cleaning service.

During warmer weather, I recommend purchasing mosquito repellent and sunscreen while you are here. Being so near the water and with a small stream running through the property, and a river bordering it at the back, there are bound to be mosquitoes. Also, there are several beaches both saltwater and freshwater, so sunscreen is a must. I have beach towels for you! Enjoy all that Plymouth has to offer!

Please note there are additional cleaning fees for pets who leave a mess, starting at $500, and up if there are damages. Do not bring an animal who is not entirely house-trained or scratches at doors unless you plan on leaving them in a kennel while you are away.

Please be aware that a 150lb service dog is living downstairs who is not guest-pet friendly. He will not bark or try to go upstairs to your area but it is VERY important that your pet is under control at all times and does not bark at or tease my dog; it would not be safe for your pet or service animal to encounter my dog. Use of the backyard must be preceded by a text to make sure I bring my dog inside so it is safe for your pet in the yard.

Your pet or service animal must be walked before using the yard; the yard is not a toilet and there is no one but you to clean up after them. (We want the yard to be clean for other guests and their barefoot children). Sorry for all the business talk but it is better to be aware. Thank you :)
