My husband and I stayed for three nights in June, and it was a highlight of our trip in Croatia. The care from Matija, Dora and Marco was outstanding, as was the venison stew. The wine list and the food choices were exceptional, and if you went out on your daily expedition hungry then that was definitely not a breakfast catering issue. The room was very comfortable and clean, and the host family ensured your comfort needs were met. The local knowledge of Plitvice Lakes was also a highlight, with Matija providing a suggested itinerary for exploring the national park (access to the park is via gate three - a relatively easy walking distance from Villa Sumrak). Highly recommend this venue to stay.

"There was no stay. We arrived and found a woman has been living in the house for 3 years. She has had other VRBO users come to check into her house, and said she notified the property owners asking them to take down the listing. I can understand if this was the first time a mixup like this had happened - but per the resident I was the fourth to try to check into her home. Why doesn’t VRBO have checks in place for this? This led to a significant disruption to my vacation plans, and cost me money. I was told the case would be escalated but I have not heard from anyone, and VRBO has not covered the cost of my rental the night we discovered the place we rented was not available. So disappointing."
