The included morning breakfast was excellent. A wonderful breakfast plate is freshly made as you enter their dining area. You don't order anything, they just bring you an tasty Costa Rican breakfast - really one of my highlights of our trip. And having Roberto, the donkey, hang out nearby was fun. Although he kind of woke us up early with his donkey "call" - all good tho. How many times do you get woken up by a donkey?
The view overlooking the city was very cool. And speaking of cool, bring a sweatshirt! You may think Costa Rica is 100% warm and tropical - it's not! The Poas volcano is up around 9,000 ft in elevation, so it's cold up there. When we arrived at Hotel Altura the temperature was in the 50's. I wasn't expecting that, nor prepared for that either.
A wonderful little find located very close to the Poas Volcano. If Poas is your first stop on your Costa Rican vacation, you can't go wrong staying here. After our stay here, we headed to La Paz Waterfalls which is on the way to Arenal."
