River Cabin in the Blue Ridge Mountains (Land Harbor)

Nanny's river cabin is located in the community of Linville Land Harbor. The cabin has 2 bedrooms, a loft, and 2 bathrooms (one is a basement bathroom). The two main floor bedrooms each have a queen bed and there is a large loft with two twin beds and a queen bed. The living room has a cozy cabin feel. There are televisions in the living room, master bedroom and the loft. There are cable boxes on the main floor TVs. The kitchen is fully equipped with a dishwasher, stove/oven, refrigerator/freezer, coffee maker, dishes, and cooking/eating utensils. We have a pack and play with mattress, side rail to add to any bed in the house, chair top high chair, and bath chair available for families traveling with little ones. Relax and take in the fresh mountain air on one of two decks. Sit on the back deck and observe nature with a view of the woods. It is the last house on a dead end road so there are no neighbors to one side. At the end of the road is the lake and the river. Peaceful and private. Birds, hummingbirds, squirrels, chipmunks, foxes, and rabbits are some of our most common visitors. There is a fire pit in the side yard. From the side yard, take a short trail through the woods to the river. There is a bridge that goes over the river to a beautiful area next to the lake with tent platforms, tree platforms, picnic tables, grills, and a fire pit. There are walking trails and amenities all throughout Land Harbor. You can visit the Land Harbor website to see all of the amenities. With an elevation of 3600 feet, the weather is great year-round. Summers are cooler and the winters are mild compared to other areas of the country. Linville Land Harbor offers a wide variety of amenities to make your stay enjoyable. Amenities include: golf course, Junior Olympic sized swimming pool, recreation center, hiking trails, lake, rivers, covered pavilion with grills, tent platforms and tree stands on the lake, playground, basketball court, children's pond, and more. You can feel safe while staying at Land Harbor with its own North Carolina Certified law enforcement agency which serves the community 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Please note: The fireplace is currently not available for use but there is a fire pit in our yard and just on the other side of the river behind the cabin. It is recommended for a 4 wheel drive during times of snow/freeze. The pool allows 5 guests at a time. Fishing in the lake requires a permit that we call in prior to your stay and is a fee per day through Land Harbor. They have rules on what bait you may use. The river behind the cabin does not require a permit and there are other places in the area to fish as well.

Had a very peaceful stay. The stream behind the house with the dam made it seem like you were deep in the woods. The dogs had fun walking in the edge water.

Fishing Trip
Entry is easy with a combo lock - no key to lose. cabin not only looked clean - it smelled clean! Owner arranged for fishing permits with the HOA so that we could fish on property. They even had little hotel style soaps/shampoos/conditioners. One of the nicest VRBO stays we’ve had.

Decent
I thought the property was alright. It wasn't spectacular but it wasn't horrible either. I knew what I was expecting though. I didn't realize there was no air conditioning. Im sure its in the description and I missed it. I clean houses for a living as well as air b n bs. So I will never give 5 stars unless it meets my level of clean. Alltogether I would definitely stay there again. The host was very kind.

Another great stay!
This is our second stay at Granny's Cabin and again it was a peaceful get-away for our 20th anniversary. The location is quiet and peaceful and easy to access (outside of the fog and mist!). Everything was as advertised and listed and we had no trouble at all. Great place and we'll be back again.

Cabin is dated but clean and comfortable. It is stocked better than any other place we have stayed. Grounds are beautiful. I would have preferred to be closer to Blowing Rock but overall, we had a great vacation.

The Stream is right behind the property
Dated house yet clean. quiet neighborhood with a view to the lake and the dam. Heat is done by baseboards and they were efective. Ceiling fans in all the rooms. Nice for a few days to see the peak color changes in the mountains.

My stay at Linville Falls
Really liked the cabin and the surroundings especially the waterfall and stream and all of the grounds at the end of the property, cabin could have been cleaner was very dusty and smelled musty and damp especially up in the loft. Would definitely stay there again if those things were corrected!

Everything was fine at this property except the TV did not work and there was quite a bit of construction traffic on our little street while we were there. Land Harbor is a nice community , but it is not close to anything. In order to find a decent restaurant or grocery store, you must drive 10 miles to Banner Elk.

The owner was fantastic to work with, I cannot say enough about her kindness! The cabin was very clean, plenty of towels and wash cloths. The kitchen was well stocked and the beds were comfortable! We were there with our two Grandsons who really enjoyed the "Kid Cave" in the upstirs loft. Plenty of room! It snowed a lot while we were there and the boys were invited by the neighbor across the street to come sledding with their children. Wonderful community! Will definitely be back.

The property was nice. The toilet seat was broken when we got there and needs to be replaced in the bathroom on the main floor. We saw the maid service person as we we’re leaving and I showed her that. The doorknob on the bathroom door needs to be replaced will fall off soon . I didn’t point that out to the maid I am sorry . We didn’t care for the dry electrical heat. The family history was a nice touch. I felt the additional service fees and cleaning fees were over the top. That doubled the cost. For that reason I would into something else before doing this again.

Second time staying here!
We have fond memories of staying here a few years ago, and this time, we invited family to join. We previously came in the springtime, and this time it was autumn. The heat works WELL. Even so, there were plenty of extra pillows and blankets to snuggle with. Everything was super clean when we arrived. There were plenty of laundry detergent, toilet paper, trash bags, dishwasher detergent, paper towels and spices for cooking. I would like to note that the TV in the loft area didn't work, but it wasn't a huge deal. The TV guide in the living room didn't work either, which was a minor inconvenience but we made do. We even grilled out one night - our steaks turned out perfect - and finished off with smores in the fire pit! We love the location of this cabin because it's right by the dam. The white noise is so relaxing. We love the proximity to the bridge, treehouses and walkways. Happy we returned, and I'm sure we'll be back!

Well-loved family cabin in wooded area was private but had easy access to highway and local restaurants. Especially pretty neighborhood in autumn! Kids would love it, but close to the lake, so young ones would need supervision.

Cousin heaven
What a wonderful location! The cabin is compact and very tidy. The upstairs "kid cave" is an absolute treasure for cousins to hang out and play. What's even better is that this cabin is the last one on a road that dead ends by the lake and walking bridge over the river to the treehouses and swings by the earthen dam. There are no worries about traffic here ... just a wonderful yard, woods, the river, the lake, and all outdoors. We will definitely be back!
