"The room was very, very spartan. Linoleum floors. No carpet. No rugs. No decorations. White walls with a number of stains that could have easily been repaired. Furniture that came from a rubbish pile. Glass marks, stain, holes, every piece of furnture was stained or had been broken. Lamps were torn. the lampstand crooked.
