Wonderful property and cabin. Beautiful setting. The cabin we stayed in was clean and well stocked and so cozy with several personal touches throughout. The sauna experience was wonderful, we wish we had done it each night we were there. Christine was very helpful and easy to contact if we needed anything. A wonderful host. We would like to come back. :)

Christine was great with communication from the moment I messaged her regarding our very late arrival. She gave perfect directions to find our cabin leaving lights on both inside and out. The cabin was exactly as we expected and then some. We arrived to be greeted by two deer in front of the cabin, inside Christine had a bowl of candy and some flowers from her garden by the guest book. She even had some flowers in the bathroom. The refrigerator had all the information needed for our stay. The next morning we met Christine in person and she's very personable. We could finally see the property and what a peaceful place to get away from it all. Our cabin overlooked Otter Lake with a view that just couldn't be beat. We decided to poke our heads in and peek at the Sauna Saturday and Christine made sure to let us know she was happy to fire it up if we wanted to use it, we declined only because we were short in time. My only "complaint" is we didn't have enough time in the UP or at Manninen's Cabins, we will be back Michigan - we will be back.

We absolutely loved our stay at Manninen’s cabins!! The cabin was everything we could have asked for; very clean, cozy, and had everything we needed in terms of kitchen supplies and utensils. We enjoyed going on the paddle boards (which are provided with the cabin) and taking in the beautiful views of Otter Lake. The sauna was very relaxing and almost felt like a mini spa! If you’re looking for a nice quiet place to relax, this is the place to go. Would highly recommend it for a family with young kids and it’s perfect for a couple if you’re trying to get away for a few days! Christine was a fantastic host, we would definitely love to come back here one day:)

If you want a genuine getaway reminiscent of better, simpler times, then this is the ideal place. Christine is the 3rd generation of this peaceful little slice of 'yesteryear', and appears to be maintaining a careful balance on keeping the cabins original while considering the comfort of her guests :) About the cleanest, most quiet place we've ever stayed...

My wife and I just returned from our honeymoon spending 8 wonderful nights at Manninen's Cabins. Everything about the stay exceeded our expectations. The cabin was spotless, I actually tried to find areas that required additional attention but to be honest I didn’t find anything I felt was amiss. The VRBO pictures didn’t do the cabin justice. The hand peeled, hand crafted logs had amazing character, excellent craftsmanship and upkeep. When entering the 100+ year old structure the doors worked perfectly the floor was level, had a minimum of squeaks and groans, the windows were tight, the chinking between logs kept out the drafts and the interior finish of the logs was beautiful. The cabin was well stocked with everything we needed including consumables such as coffee filters, soaps, dish scrubbers, paper products, and wonderful soft clean towels. The natural setting of the cabins was very inviting and comfortable we spent many evening sitting on the deck enjoying the surroundings. We fished several days using the boat provided powered by our 36lb electric which definitely was not ideal but did get the job done. We caught fish every time out, not the species we were targeting unfortunately but that’s why they call it fishing and not catching. As a bonus though my wife did catch her personal best northern which put up an exciting 6 minute battle! The remoteness of the location was exactly what we wanted. Manninen's is 30 minutes from town but only 6 or 8 minutes from Kurt’s Korner where we could pick up soap, beer, fish batter, or a tasty and reasonably priced pizza. Our stay included the holiday weekend so there was additional lake traffic at the public access next to the property. Even this I hesitate to call a negative because over the 3 day weekend there were probably only a total of 12 fishing boats, not really that much additional noise. Christine was very responsive to all requests and made us feel very welcome including firing up the sauna anytime we wanted it. We would come back same location and same dates, nothing needed to be different.
