"We stayed for a week in this perfect hotel. The location is amazing. Staying with our teenage/early 20's children, we took 3 rooms - 105, 106 and 112. Each room has its own balcony with table and chairs to enjoy the view along with a little pull out drying rack. 105 being the smallest of the 3 rooms has a shower room with the best view of the ocean! 112 has a different view onto the ocean with a beautiful Mountain View combined. All rooms have a minibar. Rooms are clean and bright and it's lovely to fall asleep to the sound of the sea! We stayed half board which is something we don't normally do. Breakfast is varied, well stocked with something for everyone. Evening meal has the same menu every night and whilst there are a range of choices it does get repetitive. Food though is fresh and there are 3 courses. We actually arrived too late on our first night and staff offered us a lunch in the rooftop restaurant which was amazing. The staff are all very accommodating and speak a few languages. Towels are provided for the pool areas just remember to obtain a complimentary entrance ticket from reception before you go as the natural pools are actually run by a different company. We hired a car which we feel is a must in Madeira as this beautiful country has much to see and do. We were glad that we choose to stay in Porto Moniz as it is the quieter side of the island which suited us. The hotel itself was busy but also quiet at night making it the ideal place to stay. "

"From checking in to dining to nightly entertainment. This resort is above our expectations. The staff at the front desk just couldn’t do enough To make sure our stay was everything we wanted. The dining and wait staff were beyond accommodative to any needs. Friendly, kind and respectful. Helen at the dining runs a great staff, it was so great to see a head staff having fun with everyone. So much respect show amongst staff. And, yes the food was absolutely great. Every meal had so much to choose from. Pestana Royal exceeded our expectations! Thank you for making our vacation more than we could have imagined."

"Faburlous sea views from close up. If you sleep well with the sound of waves -- can't beat it. Very convenient for short walks to restaurants and a grocery right next door. Breakfast buffet was exceptional. Staff were very friendly and professional. It's hard to think of something we didn't like, but perhaps it would be people slamming doors in the early morning. (Perhaps soft-close mechanisms?)"
