The apartment is a chic and cosy crows nest, perched on the highest floor of n° 46, Boulevard Henri IV, a superb and beautifully maintained Haussmanian building constructed in the late XIXth century. While modest in size (20 square meters), it is completely restored, ingeniously laid out and thoroughly equipped with all modern conveniences: a modern shower and toilet, wifi service, free telephone service worldwide, a modern flat screen television, a desktop computer, a fully equipped kitchen with a battery of pots, pans, cooking utensils and dinnerware, an induction range top and a microwave/conventional oven, a Nespresso machine, a Miele washer/dryer, a Miele dishwasher, a Siemens refrigerator, individual heating, hardwood floors, a comfortable single slat bed with an optional second single matress en gigogne beneath it. The windows are double glazed making the space virtually silent.

The apartment is a six floor walk-up and geared to a young clientèle, one travelling lightly and on a modest budget. It is ideally suited for students and back packers. When one enters the prestigious foyer with its checkerboard marble floors, climbs six flights and opens the door of this ingeniously conceived apartment, one's eyes are regaled by a breathtaking, panoramic view of the city: the Colonne de Juillet, the Opera of the Bastille, the boat basin of the Seine, the Arsenal. The north of Paris stretches out before one's eyes. At night, from the privileged vantage point, the city glistens beneath, and the golden Genie of the Bastille, beloved symbol of freedom (equivalent to the Statue of Liberty, commemorating the Trois Glorieuses, the three days where monarchy was defeated and France became a constitutional republic,) floats over one's head, as in a dream.

Make no mistake: Le Vert Galant is a truly exceptional property located in a truly exceptional area of the city. During the day, the apartment is suffused with light and seems to float on the air, a magic carpet. At night, the dazzling view lends credence to Paris's reputation as The City of Lights.

Les femmes du 6e étage

Das kleine Studio im Mansardgeschoss eines großbürgerlichen Pariser Wohnhauses läßt das Herz jedes (Innen)Architekten höher schlagen, so perfekt sind die Einbaumöbel eingepaßt, mit Nischen, Schubladen und geheimnisvollen Klappfächern, die Farben bis hin zur Bettwäsche passend ausgewählt. Der Blick auf die Place de la Bastille aus dem Blickwinkel der "Kinder des Olymp" in Richtung Morgensonne, ist toll. Es gab sogar einen "Sturm auf die Bastille" in Form einer großen Demo zu sehen. In unmittelbarer Umgebung gibt es zahlreiche echt gute Boulangerien, Obst- und Lebensmittelläden und natürlich montags den Tanztee im Balajo. Die Metro ist direkt vor der Tür, zur Oper hinüber ist es ein Katzensprung. Nur in die Bedienung der Heizung mußte ich mich erst einarbeiten und als Teetrinkerin hätte ich mir ein Teekanne und eine Teetasse gewünscht. Durch das Treppensteigen ist man nach wenigen Tagen voll durchtrainiert, allerdings sollte man keinen zu schweren Koffer mitbringen, der erste Aufstieg ist hart. Das Studio ist perfekt für eine Person. Ich komme sehr gerne wieder.

Highly, highly recommend this cute, functional apartment. All the amenities we needed for our nine-day stay: comfortable bed and cozy linens, washer/dryer for lighter packing, dishwasher, refrigerator (to keep Brie, cured meats, beer, and bottled water handy) easiest Metro access, and great view. For Americans: it’s on the 7th floor so there are indeed 6 flights of spiral staircase. Be aware if you have mobility trouble. Would stay here again. And again.

Great location but cramped quarters

We loved the easy access to the metro and bastille opera house, as well as all of the amenities in the apartment (washer/dryer, fridge, kitchen, blow dryer, iron, etc). We were fully aware of the six flights of stairs so I can’t complain about that (although it is a huge consideration). I didn’t like the bathroom (too cramped and the front door opened right into the bathroom), and the beds were not comfortable for a couple (twin bed with a pull-out twin mattress underneath that rests directly on the floor). The owners were very accommodating and charming and did a great job of communicating. The apartment was also very clean. If you are fit to climb stairs and single, this is a great choice. I wouldn’t recommend this for couples, however.

An incredible location!

We absolutely loved our stay in this apartment. It was really cool to have a view of the Bastille Monument and the apartment had everything we needed for our 5 night stay. And, we left in better shape than we arrived (climbing the 6 flights of stairs multiple times per day) ;) I would absolutely recommend this to anyone that doesn't mind the stair climb.

The apartment is very comfortable for one or two people. The beds are twin size. The location is ideal: easy access to metro, restaurants, and shopping. I loved having access to a washer/dryer and fridge. The owners are very customer service oriented they addressed an Internet glitch within 24 hours. Two potential challenges are there is no elevator (the apartment is on the sixth floor) & it has a small shower width wise.

Great location!

We had a great trip to Paris, and loved staying in this apartment. The location was perfect, metro stop right outside the door with 3 lines leading us anywhere we needed to go. The owners were very friendly and available during the process. Was it small, yes but you're in an apartment in Paris so it was to be expected. it was the perfect amount of space for my husband and I and it was great to feel like a local. We were actually happy about the amount of stairs - with all the heavy French food we at least felt we were getting in a daily workout! Would highly recommend and if we go back to Paris would definitely stay there again.

Perfect flat near the Bastille

This flat was simply perfect for my stay in Paris, especially as a solo traveler. Everything about the flat is EXACTLY as it is presented on the website. The view is amazing and the flat is in close proximity to a multitude of cafes, bakeries, shops, national monuments, museums, etc. And, since the flat is close to a national monument (the Bastille), I always knew how to find my way back, regardless of where I was in the city (a nice perk for someone who was visiting Paris for the first time). David was easy to work with and was always prompt in his reply to inquiries. He even took the time to make sure I understood the flat was on the 6th floor of a building without a lift before I booked. I loved my time (12 days) in the flat -- high speed internet access and the ability to make free international calls were great perks. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking to stay in an amazing flat with a stellar view -- five stars! Thank you, David and John-Paul!

Wonderful stay! everything we needed.. and MORE!

i cant say enough about what a lovely stay we had here at this apartment. everything was perfect from check in to leaving. the owner was just a phone call away for any need that we had during our stay. the kitchen was well stocked and clean.. everything was PERFECTLY CLEAN, neat and new. the neighborhood had everything we needed.. and THE VIEW!!! WOW THE VIEW its not every day you can wake up with a view of a monument! and its right across the street from the opera for opera fans. the neighborhood was very safe, EASY access to the metro. literally right in front of the apartment we loved the classic building and paris vibes, the stairs never bothered us. we realized in paris this is normal and didnt mind 1 bit. we will for sure be back to stay and will tell all of our friends and family!

Small Apartment in the Bastille Area

There are positives and negatives to this apartment. Read on: Location: The apartment is in a great location for local bars, restaurants and transportation conveniences. The Bastille Metro stop is right outside the front door to the building. There are also several bus stops a short walk from the apartment and you can also catch the L'Tour Bus which, for 32 euros per day, you can take around the city to see the landmarks (after changing lines, you can easily get to the Louvre, the Eiffel Tower and the Arc D'Triomphe). So the apartment is in a great location. Apartment Conveniences: The apartment does have a working computer with free wi-fi, a fully equipped kitchenette, an HD television with several channels (all French language, except for CNN). However, here is a reality check for possible patrons: This apartment is very small. If you are planning on relaxing at all in the apartment, you will quickly catch a case of cabin fever; the apartment is meant to sleep, eat and shower, and that's it. Also, there is no air conditioning so you must open the two windows for air circulation. You will be making a choice between flying bugs and mosquitoes and getting some air. But opening the windows will give you a very nice view of the Bastille monument and the surrounding Parisian neighborhoods. Also, I found the French language washer/dryer to not work well, because I do not read or speak French well. I found myself trying to translate the machine commands in order to wash clothing and the dryer never did work well enough to dry anything. There is no one around to assist with this so you are left to figure it out on your own. The countertop hot plate did not work as promised either. Lastly, the stairs....OMG, THE STAIRS. Hope you are in shape, this apartment is on the top floor of a six floor walkup and it is six floors complete! What is strange is that some apartments in the complex do have access to an elevator. However, it appears that the owner has bought a small sub-section of another apartment and re-habbed it. Access to the apartment is up six flights of back door stairs and not very attractive for the price that is being asked. I found myself planning my days around how many times I would have to climb and descend that winding staircase in order to come to and fro. Bottom Line: Beware. If you think this is a bargain, it is and for good reason. If you are a 1st time visitor to Paris, be careful. You get what you pay for!

Excellent location! A gem in the Bastille!

This property was an excellent find! It is located right in the middle of my favorate part of Paris....the Marais. The Bastille is viewable from the window and was a lovely reminder each day when I returned "home" that I was indeed in Paris. The apartment is small, but very comfortable. Being a solo traveler, it was more than enough space for me. There was a great kitchen (that I didn't fully utilize). The main features for me were the Satellite TV and Internet ready computer. The computer was very convenient to make bookings and keep in touch with friends. There was also a full library of DVDs to watch. The apartment is located about 20 feet away from a Metro stop, so you could not ask for better convenience. The one drawback may be the 6 flights of stairs to the apartment, but after walking around Paris all day, you will actually get used to the climb. The view was fantastic from the two windows in the apartment. There were several thunderstorms while I was there and watching the lightning from my window was amazing. The owners were great to work with and the conveniece of being able to use PayPal to confirm the booking made me feel safe and secure. The owners met me the day I arrived and walked me through the apartment. They gave me their contact information in case I had any problems and I felt very secure knowing they were available if I needed them. I've been to Paris 6 times previously and I would highly recommend renting an apartment while visiting. It gives you a feeling of being more like a local and really experiencing Paris. This apartment fits in very nicely with that!

A delightful Bastille stay

We enjoyed this well designed studio apt in the Bastille area, both for the ease of connection to exploring Paris and for the comfort. We liked having wonderful appliances to cook and do some laundry, and the beds were very comfortable. The apt is on the 6th floor, with no elevator, so others might consider if they want to do the flight of stairs. For us, it was an excuse to eat another eclair!

perfect getaway! perfect stay and amazing location!

we just got back from an amazing stay !! from the time of arrival to departure everything was literally perfect. the apt was complete redone and had everything we needed we loved having the dishwasher, washmachine.. because who wants to bring home laundry from their trip! everything was PERFECTLY clean we loved having the internet, dvd selections as well after a long day of sightseeing. the owners were very professional and we loved dealing with them the coffee machine was wonderful to have the nespresso , even the smallest details like shampoo ect were attended to the location is literally in front of the metro with great night around , such as cafes for evening wine till midnight .. as well as the cute little saint paul area we loved exploring and supermarket 1 block away. we felt completely safe even walking around past midnight . all the sites like notre dame , louvre were literally 4 to 10 minutes by the metro just below us. we will for sure be coming back and advising all of our friends and family visiting paris to stay here. thank you once again david and Paul for making our trip perfect!
