"The Hotel Nouvel was a very mixed bag but ultimately was very dissapointing but it has the potential to be exceptional. It is located in the perfect location just off La Rambla and a 2 minute walk to Catalunya metro station. From the outside it looked a beautiful, quaint hotel but once inside it was a massive let down. For almost £300 a night i expect 3 things. The first thing i expect is it to be clean and modern and it wasn't clean or modern. There was a dried blood stain on the white bed quilt. The floor tiles were cracked and broken in a number of places and the doors were cracked and in desperate need of repair. It was less than modern and had one single socket outlet in the whole room which was located by one of the bed sides. What was amusing was there was a mini kettle in the room with tea & coffeee sachets but no plug point to plug the kettle in although i suppose you could have used the single socket right alongside the bed. The second thing i want in a room is working wifi. The wifi was probably the worst i have ever encountered, it was incredibly slow and kept dropping out every 30seconds or so and then you couldn't log back in. The room did i have my 3rd thing, a working safe. A mini fridge would have been nice but no such luck. The hotel does have a lovely roof terrace to relax on but the bottom line for me is the hotel needs closing down and a complete refurbishment. The breakfast at 17euros per person is way too much for what you get."

"The property is near Las Ramblas and easy walking distance to Plaza Real for numerous restaurants and clubs as well as the waterfront and numerous sites. There is police station on the same block, so it is very safe. Pedestrians are everywhere both day and night. The hotel is clean, but we noticed a constant chemical smell in the hallway from cleaning agents they use. Rooms are simple, but modern and well cared for. Security cards are necessary for entry into the hotel, the elevator and your room. They have a rooftop infinity pool, but it was not heated and we had inclement weather, so couldn't use it."

"I believe it should be easier (as a hotel guest) to reserve spots on the rooftop. One manager suggested we couldn’t reserve certain areas while it remained difficult to actually sit in one of the cabanas. Why is this???"
