Very cute little town in the shadow of the volcano! We enjoyed eating at the Blue Spruce. Seeing elk grazing in the evening was fun! Visit the Cowlitz River to cool off and fish or hike at the Skate Creek area.

Packwood seems to be a town on the rise, capitalizing more on it's proximity to Mt Rainier. Hopefully prices and rates in town do not rise with it.

Excellent
Packwood is small and quaint. I love that it's quiet, has just enough to meet basic needs but not super built up.

Really liked packwood and the food places were good and reasonable priced.
"What an amazing, little gem in the woods! We had a fantastic stay! The property was exactly as described — clean, cozy, and well-equipped with everything we needed for a comfortable visit. The check-in process was smooth, and communication with the host was excellent throughout. The location was perfect — Mt Rainier and many other places to visit in the vicinity. We would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area. Thanks again for a great experience!"
"Cowlitz Manor was what we hoped for - perfect for our family of 4. The house is as beautiful in person as it is in the photos. The beds were incredibly comfortable! Being on the Cowlitz river and being to cross the road and walk up to it as well as the view from the gigantic balcony and outdoor couches made for a soothing stay. The drive to the town of Packwood was super easy too as was our hike to Lake Packwood (highly recommend). The accessibility to Mt. Rainier Park (we visited Sunrise and Paraduse) were easy drives too. In short, highly recommend!"
Beautiful mountain cabin by river - 2.9 miles from town
10/10 Excellent
"This was one of the best built and maintained properties we have been in. You can see the love the owners have for the place- especially in their attention to detail. We stayed in 3 separate cabins throughout Washington on our trip and this was our favorite. Perfect location for hiking Mt Rainer and the town of Packwood was very close and convenient. The only unexpected aspect was how close the next door cabin is. We are particular in selecting private cabins since we had 4 kids around the age of 10 and we want them to run around and be loud and enjoy being outside without worry of bothering other people or just having strangers so close. The cabin next door is maybe 15 ft from the rental with a shared driveway. Thankfully it was under construction and only looked about 90% complete, but if it was an active rental, we would not have stayed here. This should by no means take away from the absolute stunner of a cabin this was but for families or couples looking for more privacy, you will not get it once that cabin opens up and it was not clear by the photos listed just how close it is."
