"Staff exceptional, esp Dale and Ashley. They took marvellous and personal care of us. The Castle itself is showing its age. The mattress in our room needs replacing. We had a suite in one of the towers, which was huge, with a massive sitting room, but it was at the very top, only accessible by stairs, so unsuitable for anyone with mobility issues. The evening meal and cooked breakfasts were delicious and cooked to order, a rare experience in this day and age."

"1-night stay for a business trip. This hotel is in a convenient location right on the Scotch Corner junction. Room was clean and as expected, easy parking. The restaurant was OK for both breakfast and dinner, not fine dining but decent enough. I recommend this one over the next Holiday Inn further north."

"Excellent choice of accommodation for a stay in and around Durham. My son and I were there to visit the university and it was a short bus journey into the city. Similarly a short bus journey from the train or bus station to the property. Very friendly and helpful staff, especially John, who gave me directions over the phone a few days before we got there. Lovely clean room (in a motel style), beautiful comfortable beds and excellent shower. TV, tea and coffee making facilities. Can park right outside room if you came by car. Lovely bar area, and beautiful breakfast options. The fully cooked breakfast was excellent. All the staff were so lovely and welcoming, particularly John who welcomed us when we arrived. Would thoroughly recommend. "

"Lovely friendly staff, garden room was lovely and clean and well equipped….only problem we had was the heating was set at 35 degrees upon arrival and it took a while to cool it down with windows and doors open. Would stay here again without a doubt "

"I did a last minute booking as I was kicked out from the other inn having they over sold their rooms. Since the late booking, it hasn’t gone through the system, there was a trouble in checking in. Luckily, a male college join in later and helped me to sort out the issue and finally I got a room to stay! "

"Hotel was clean, staff very friendly and helpful, Mandy the receptionist was full of local knowledge and even got the little one an Easter egg!! Her dog Sydney was lovely too!. The food was excellent value for Money and great quality too, we will definitely be returning again next year for Easter break, this is a hidden Gem, Customer service in all areas was amazing."
