"The desk manager was so nice. She changed our rooms around so my mother-in-law could use an accessible shower. She even went out of her way to run a shower chair down to her room. We really felt the staff not only offered great service, but genuine kindness to us."

"They are postcard sized, so what they advertise is what you get, which was perfect for me. I took a cabin just for a couple of days alone time with my puppers 🐶I could not have found a better place, and I will definitely come back. I do wish they had a mini microwave in the cabins, and I would suggest bringing an extension cord, because I could not find an outlet near the beds to charge my phone. As I travel with an extension cord, it was not a problem. Enjoy."

"This was a great experience staying at this hotel. Hotel was clean, breakfast was GREAT! I've never stayed at a hotel where there were gluten free options as well as healthy yogurt options, egg white omlets and fruit. I was able to stick to my normal eating while on the road. Wonderful. Will only be staying at HIE from now on. "

"The property was "as advertised" but really the beauty of this space couldn't be captured by the photos. It had modern amenities but felt like you were stepping into the past at the same time. The covered but open porch overlooking the Illinois River was also more stunning than the photos could reflect. We used it as a retreat with a small group of pastors (8 of us) and it was well loved by everyone. Highly recommended! Beware: there's only one bedroom on the main floor and the rest of the beds and bedrooms are upstairs so this space should be limited to folks who are steady on their feet and it's definitely not a good space for families with young children in my opinion for the same reason. Otherwise, book it!"
