Take your steaming cup of coffee the 100 steps down the beach path and watch the day begin over miles of beach at low tide, or gentle waves rolling in at high tide. On your morning walk, watch kids explore tidepools, build sandcastles, and watch them wash away as waves creep back in over the sun-warmed flats. Back at the house, enjoy sun or shade on the deck, and an al fresco lunch. Stroll to the harbor to watch fishing boats come in with their catches, and visit Captain Cass' to buy fresh fish for dinner. Enjoy games in the large side yard and privacy of the quiet, cool lower meadow.

Inside the freshly renovated house, take in the water view from the entire first floor. Each room has its own charm: open living room, dining room and kitchen nook, a primary with private bath and French doors to the deck; four more bedrooms upstairs: three queens, and a fourth with bunks for four. All three showers have views of the ocean. Cooks love the new kitchen. Perfect for extended family vacations, this spot has safe swimming for children, and even a TV if you can tear your eyes away from the best sunset view on Cape Cod. The house faces directly west, and those “in-the -know” gather at nearby Rock Harbor to watch the sky melt into pinks, oranges and purples. You'll join the applause with the rest.

Nice house, half marsh, half beach

The house was in excellent condition with great sunset views from the deck. However, once you get the final location, you'll realize the house is located on what is called "Rock Harbor Marsh". You can swim at high tide, but this is not a conventional beach. Property management was very picky - their processes were complex and not conducive to a relaxing vacation. The house was sparsely appointed - every other VRBO I have used has plenty of paper products, coffee, spices, etc. Not so here - and for the price we paid, I would have expected more. Also, the dishwasher didn't work - so we washed and dried dishes by hand the whole weekend. Property management offered to come out and take a look but who wants a repairman banging around the kitchen (core of the house) during a short getaway.
