"Great place in great location on a hill overlooking the harbour and as a working lighthouse it is quite quirky. Very well located to visit a number of WW2 beaches, batttlefields and memorials which is why we were there. Also a short distance from the medieval town of Bayeux. Port en Bessin itself quite small but some very good restaurants and a couple of bars. As we were there early in the season some of the restaurants were closed but enough for us to try a different restaurant on all four nights we were there. We were a party of 4 male adults and found the house very comfortable. Would definitely recommend Maison du Phare."

"This is the third time we have stayed at this house. The location is fabulous and the owner is very responsive to inquiries. Some of the furniture cushions could use a refresh. Our only complaint was that we were unable to control the temperature of the main level. The week we stayed was cold and rainy. Sabine turned up the temperature for us remotely, but it never seemed warm enough. The kitchen is well stocked and a washer and dryer was a plus. We love Port en Bessin and look forward to returning."

"Fantastic position, right on the harbour, with shops (bakery, fish market, small supermarket) and good restaurants all within easy walking distance. Parking was easy right outside, but we did use the garage. Further afield there was lots to see. Bayeux is close by, while we visited Arromanches-les-Bains and Pegasus Bridge, plus the German battery at Longues-sur-Mer. This was not a planned ‘D-day’ visit but it really gripped (and moved) me. "

"Geraldine's house was perfect...Well stocked, clean, and lots of privacy. We really enjoyed sitting on the deck and watching the town. The wine and biscuits were lovely and such a thoughtful touch. We also appreciated Geraldine's tips on getting around and the local options. There is also a little market 1 block away that is fantastic...they are very kind to those that are not fluent in French. "
