Lac de Jouarres: 10 minutes by car – great for swimming, paddleboarding, or just a relaxing picnic in the shade

Minerve: One of France’s most beautiful villages, perched dramatically over gorges – full of medieval charm

Carcassonne: Explore the famous fortified cité, a fairy-tale city with turrets, ramparts, restaurants and markets (30–40 mins)

Narbonne: Roman ruins, canals, food markets and a laid-back southern vibe – perfect for a day trip

For food lovers: a visit to Les Halles de Narbonne – the town’s famous covered food market – is a must. Open daily, it’s a lively, sensory feast of cheese stalls, seafood counters, charcuterie, and wine bars where you can snack like a local.

For adventurous guests visiting in winter: the ski resorts of the Eastern Pyrenees — such as Les Angles or Font-Romeu — are within a 2–2.5 hour drive, making a snowy day trip or overnight escape perfectly possible.

-----------------------
Wine lovers take note
-----------------------

Olonzac sits at the heart of the Minervois AOC, one of the Languedoc’s most celebrated wine regions. You’ll find:

Bold, expressive reds and rosés at very affordable prices

Local tastings just a few minutes away – Les Celliers d’Onairac in town is a great place to start

Charming vineyards and estates nearby like Château de Paraza, St Jacques d’Albas, and Domaine de Courbissac – many offer tours and direct sales

Don’t miss a glass of Muscat de Saint-Jean-de-Minervois – a sweet, citrusy treat from just up the road

Pair your wine with local cheeses like pélardon (a soft goat’s cheese from the Cévennes) or tomme des Pyrénées, often found at the Olonzac market or served during vineyard tastings.

-----------------------------------------------------
Here to help you feel at home – a note from Lucy
-----------------------------------------------------

My family and I live nearby and love sharing this beautiful corner of France. Many of our guests return year after year – often becoming friends – and I’m always happy to help you get to know the area, recommend places to visit, or introduce you to the village and locals.

If you have any questions before or during your stay, please don’t hesitate to get in touch – I’ll do everything I can to make sure your time at Chez LuLu is special.

Chez Lu Lu in Olonzac

Chez Lu Lu was an excellent base for visiting the Languedoc and an excellent accommodation. Spotless, well appointed, cheerful and sunny. Parking was easy. Lucy was available and helpful if needed. Olonzac is a quiet town, but it has all that is needed for a comfortable visit. We would stay here again!

Quaint property in the centre of a charming village

Very neatly set out on three floors, kitchen/diner on the bottom, bedroom in the middle and lounge and terrace on top. You'll get plenty of exercise staying here as you'll always find the thing you want is actually two floors up or two floors below you! Overall, a charming and excellently equipped property that comes with superb support from Lucy whose extensive knowledge of all things local was a great help!

A Gem of a Place

Lucy the owner met us at the house and explained everything to us. She contacted us earlier in the day as there was an event in Olonzac and some of the roads may be closed and gave other directions to get to the house. She was contactable throughout the holiday and she was very friendly and willing to have a chat whenever we saw her around Olonzac. The house was perfect and just as described. We loved the roof terrace where we spent every evening. The bedroom was light and airy with plenty of storage space. The kitchen was well equipped and we enjoyed many a meal looking out onto the Marie. Parking outside was always available. Olonzac is a very friendly town and the locals always have time to say bonjour. We felt at home very quickly.

It's an excellent small house in the middle of a functional little town.

The house basically has three rooms: the kitchen/diner, bedroom and small sitting room with open roof terrace. There is also a shower-room/wc. It's small but it all works very well. The ground floor kitchen/diner has all you need including a good wood burning stove for cooler months. There are also electric heaters should you need them. The bedroom on the first floor is fine with adequate storage and a good bed. The sitting room on the top floor is small but with big windows looking onto a similarly sized roof terrace where you can sit out. It is all well decorated and very well kept. The owner is local and very helpful. We found parking right outside the front door to be easy, but it was a French school holiday period, but parking is not going to be a problem. The town is small but manages three or more bakeries, several restaurants and bars, post office, butcher and good modern super market - all within walking distance. It also has a good cave cooperative selling its good wine at good prices under the name of "Brian". On Tuesdays there is an enormous local market running through half of the town. It's very good with a wide range of products. Excellent for vegetables etc. The market comes within about 80m of the house - no need to drive and park. Further afield, there's lots to see and do and getting around by car is easy. We enjoyed our stay and will return.

Lovely roof terrace in the heart of Languedoc village

This is a lovely home in a nice Languedoc village - perfect for a taste of French village life on your holidays. It's clean, well-equipped and tastefully decorated, but the star feature is definitely the roof terrace. When we weren't out sightseeing and enjoying the lovely countryside, we seemed to spend most of our time sitting on the terrace - perfect for breakfast and aperitifs. Lucy was a really helpful and friendly host. Olonzac was a good place in which to base ourselves. It has a number of restaurants within easy walking distance, and although you have to go further afield to get the best cooking, we enjoyed sampling what was on offer in the village.

Comfortable home away from home with all the creature comforts and good music and reading selection

Really enjoyed our stay in Chez Lu Lu. Lucy met us on arrival and imparted lots of local recommendations for things to do and places to visit. Olonzac is less than an hour from a selection of beaches and within range of the Pyrenees, so lots to see and do. We would recommend....a trip on 'Le Train Rouge' for stunning scenery, the city of Minerve, Gruissan Plage & old town, Carcassonne castle, Canal du Midi tour from Homps, Tue market in Olonzac and last but not least...great coffee and pastries in Boulangerie du Marché aux Herbes (just around the corner from the house).

A beautiful holiday house in a quiet, relaxing and well placed location.

Thank you to Lucy for creating such a welcoming and relaxing home for us to unwind in. I almost wanted it to rain so that we could stay inside and enjoy the house! The decor and attention to detail is outstanding - there is everything you need and more. We loved the stable door in the kitchen to let in the air and the comings and goings of the square, the winding staircases, the roof terrace and all the nooks and crannies that you have cleverly created and dressed so beautifully. We did a lot of cycling along the Canal du Midi and enjoyed stopping off at the locks for coffees & cold drinks. We had a lovely lunch at the Chantovent in Minverve - thanks for the recommendation. We also enjoyed sitting in the low chairs outside the bar in Homps watching the boats and the birds coming and going. It has been a lovely week and we hope to return to find out more about the area.

Very nice and tenderly furnitured house

My wife and me had really great days in Chez LuLu. The house is tenderly funitured and very clean. Although we did not really use the kitchen, it was very good equipped. Because of its location everything can be reached with a short walk. We did not meet the host personally, but the contact was very confident and informing. A very good choice at a nice place to stay not far away to the Canal du Midi, Beziers, Carcasonne and the beach. If we would visit this region again, we would try to rent the house again.
