"Gave only 4 stars because when I went to check in, they told us were staying next door in the Residence Inn. It was part of the Corendon Hotel. But after hauling in all our luggage after a long day of traveling, then standing in a long line to be told we needed to check in the next door hotel, didn't make us very happy. Residence Inn room was like a studio apt but huge and was sparkly clean. We had to go next door to the Corendon to buy beer & snacks. Didn't feel up to eating at Corendon restaurant. Definitely, would stay there again. Note: There is a hotel shuttle to hotel from airport (no ticket req'd, however, it costs 5 euro from hotel to airport. You can purchase online or at front desk."

"Great lobby if you have to wait for a room. They had an area to store your luggage. The front desk was very helpful & pleasant. No ice machine but you can ask for some at front desk. The elevator made some squeaky noises, worked fine but maybe it needed some maintenance? The wifi worked fine in lobby & room. The hotel has a deal with a cab co. for a flat fee to take you to the airport for a very reasonable price. The room was bigger than expected for an old hotel but the room lighting was very dim. The location was perfect right close to everything, bars, restaurants, stores,.....but off the main road enough that it was quiet. We would stay there again."

"We had a great 2-night stay at the Volkshotel. The staff were always pleasant and very helpful. The ground-floor cafe was nice and very convenient. (Good to know: When we were there, on weekends, the hotel restaurant and cafe only opened for breakfast at 8 a.m. It seems to be an Amsterdam thing as nothing close by was open either.) Because we were heading out on an excursion, we found a place open for coffee closer to our excursion meeting point. I also liked the location of the hotel. It is in an interesting neighbourhood and within easy reach of the metro. When I made our booking I was a little concerned that we would be older than the usual clientele, but I needn’t have worried. The hotel staff make sure all feel welcome. And bonus! We were offered a free upgrade from a cabin to a room with a bathroom. Very nice!"
