"I did not realise that we were staying in a plantation village, with multiple accommodation. I had made a request for two beds and, as it was a slow time of year, we got two bedrooms. Pahala is a very cute town (and currently the only one with a grocery store as the one in Naalehu was no longer as at 28 Jan 25). The people were also really friendly. The only thing to consider is the roosters. If you want to sleep in - close the windows. We didn't, as the black sand beach was all ours at sunrise,...

"We stayed Jan19-23 2026. This is not your typical VRBO. This new beach house is luxurious, even posh! Wonderful deck with lots of comfortable furniture and great ocean views. It has a double bed and 2 twins in the middle. Master bedroom with its own bath is separate, only accessible from the deck, in the back. 2 great outdoor showers. 2.5 baths. Amazing decks, with great views. Bedroom AC worked great. Huge fancy kitchen, dining, living space. We cooked dinner in twice, and the kitchen and BBQ...

"The house accommodates 10 people, you do have some stairs and the wrap around deck is where we spent all our time. At the Big Island everywhere is a drive to get to, so plan accordingly. The home is clean and stocked with all kitchen and bathroom necessities including beach towels, coolers, for picnics, and beach toys!
