Oaxaca is safe. People are friendly and courteous. The restaurants serve amazing food and there is such variety available. There are wedding parades most days which are vibrant and noisy and great fun. There was a carnival parade when we were there.

Wonderful city, best cuisine in Mexico. Coffee, chocolate, and mezcal are amazing. Artistic city with tons of galleries and museums, and artisan towns nearby as well as ruins at Monte Albán and Mitla. Mediterranean climate (dry and warm).
