"Just brilliant. Le Grand Monarque was recommended by a friend in the UK who stays there regularly. He really did us a favour as it is a fabulous and very interesting hotel with exceptional staff (especially Natalie on Reception). The parking is great value at €7 per night and the breakfast was delicious and nicely varied. Located in the centre of the small town of Azay-le-Rideu this hotel is an absolute gem. "

"We first stayed at this hotel in 1986 and gave re-visited several times since. The location is fantastic right in the centre and beside the public car park and lift up to the chateau. The hotel has been renovated and extended over the years and is now even has a roof terrace for chilling out in after a days touring/cycling. The owners have changed over the years and the current owners, Romain & Romain, are wonderful friendly hosts, as are the rest of the hotel staff, We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will be back again. "Beautiful property with magnificent views. The food at Aurore (on-site restaurant) was unbelievably great. Although the front desk staff were very friendly, a bit more of added hospitality would elevate this hotel and the experience. "

"Nice hotel, good layout with parking and easy access to the hotel on the outskirts of Tour, the front of house staff were very friendly and efficient, nice entrance with a bar and restaurant and breakfast area, the hotel seems to be new and in very good condition, the rooms were excellent with a good layout, very comfortable bed, nice shower basin and WC, especially liked the mini kitchen, fridge, sink, microwave, kitchen utensils, was excellent to prepare a snack.
