Area attractions include 6 nearby golf courses, snow skiing at Beech, Sugar, or Hawksnest Ski Resorts, antique and craft markets, fishing, hiking, gem mining, horseback riding, rodeos and more. Banner Elk, Boone, Linville Falls, the Blue Ridge Parkway, Penland School, Grandfather Mountain, and Blowing Rock are each no more than 30 miles, some much closer. For a special afternoon visit the Asheville / Black Mountain area and Biltmore Estate. The 8' wide wrap-around porch is a nice place to relax or make use of the gas grill. After dinner stroll to Plumtree, walk the surrounding woods,

We are often asked about cell coverage. Here is a response to a recent question.

'Thanks for the question. Our carrier is AT&T and about three years ago the coverage went down the tubes .  Our cousin has Carolina west and here works just fine. I have heard rumor that Verizon works but I can't verify that. There is a standard landline that you can receive calls with or use a calling card to call out. There is also wifi for Skype or FaceTime or imessage  There are pockets on the way to Spruce Pine and Newland where texts and Voicemails will come through. The bottom line is that it can be inconvenient but is no different at our cabin than anywhere else in the region. It is the nature of the topography. It is not something that we get complaints about.  Don't hesitate if you have other questions.'

The house was nice and cosy. It had a futon downstairs and a bed in the loft area. The loft had a smart tv that we just plugged our firestick into to watch movies.

My daughter and I staid here while volunteering in the area. All the windows downstairs show the beautiful view while the loft allows for more privacy. All the necessities were there and a gorgeous deck it was too cold for us to enjoy much of. Host was very responsive and helpful! We will definitely be back!

Just a weekend getaway. The cabin was very nice and clean, made it perfect for the weekend I was there. It wasn't too far away from town and local sight's and attractions just All in All a perfect spot to get away from it all.

Great cabin for quiet getaway! Very private and surrounded by nature. Quite relaxing and great for a couples retreat. Only downside was no A/C but it doesn’t get too hot there so not unmanageable. I’d consider coming back!

My husband and I stayed here for our 24th Anniversary. It was absolutely perfect. We loved the cabin, which had everything we needed for our stay. We also enjoyed exploring the property such a beautiful place. The location was just perfect for visiting other locations we wanted to visit and we would definitely stay here again.

This property is amazing. You are away from everything. Its super quite and beautiful. We loved staying in this truly postcard like oasis. This property is still close enough to enjoy the Blue Ridge Parkway and close enough to stores. We loved our stay !

We love this place. Quiet. Isolated, but not far from civilization. 20 minute drive from Sprce and 30 to 40 minutes from Banner Elk. Close to Linville Falls. Covered deck that is great for reading and chilling out for an evening. Great value too. This was our second visit and we will go back again.

A lovely old cabin in a secluded spot. I did have several questions before we arrived but was unable to get them answered because i could not get in contact with anyone. But as a whole we did have a good time

Nice and secluded cabin. Near several areas of interest. The bed is very comfy and cabin is stocked with all the necessities. The scenery is beautiful and there are lots of places to hike on property. This is an older cabin, obviously lived in and a little run down. It could use a deep clean, but I found it homey and could easily have spent my entire time there. I will visit again and recommend to my friends. My daughter has already booked the same property for her birthday in May. Thank you!

This air b&b is cozy. The owners were very nice but their caretaker lacks. The grounds look nothing like the clear grounds in the picture. About 100 yards to the west from the porch there is a small farm, you can hear the dogs and the goats and get a glemps of their horses. You take a 20-30 min drive and find a water fall park, do some hiking or places to get some great pics of the Blueridge Mountains.Over all a nice secluded place to get some down time. Good luck with cell phone service though.
