Scenic Cottage on the Shannon Estuary Way

10/10 Excellent

"This is a lovely cottage with spectacular views of the Shannon estuary. The hosts were very welcoming and responded quickly when we were settling in and had a couple of questions. We had two boys under the age of 5- the box of Lego’s was much appreciated! The boys also loved seeing the friendly cows in the field outside the patio.The nearby town of Kildysart had shops for everything we needed. We enjoyed a lively and welcoming night of live music at one of the pubs. It was the perfect base for exploring the area."

"The hotel was in a beautiful setting with a helpful staff. However, the room was a bit lacking for the price: The bed was uncomfortable. The shower had a shower curtain that didn't reach the tub so water went everywhere. There was also no hair dryer in the room, which I wasn't prepared for. Also, several of the plugs did not work in the room, even after confirming they were switched on. NOTE: We had an early flight and had to leave before anyone was staffed. My husband took some luggage down to the car and couldn't get back in the front door. Luckily I was still in the room and could go let him back in to help take the rest of our items to the car."

"paid $290 for this hotel stay and unfortunately it was nowhere near worth the price. The room was very tight and felt cramped, which made the stay uncomfortable. Basic amenities were missing—there weren’t even any washcloths provided, which is something you’d expect at this price point. Overall, the experience fell well below expectations. For what we paid, we expected a much higher level of comfort and service. I’m very disappointed with both the hotel and Expedia for this booking."
