"The front porch was great for all of us to sit in. Very peaceful and quiet area. Our host was very nice and responsive to questions. More seating in the living room would have been nice for watching movies at night. There was one couch that sat 3-4 people. However you could sit at dining room table and watch from there, just not as comfy. We had a great stay!"

"Requested in room coffee so didn’t have to go downstairs to other end of the hotel first thing to get a cup of coffee and the staff was very accommodating. They brought up a small coffee machine and two packets each of regular and decaf coffee. However, I didn’t notice that there wasn’t a hairdryer in the room until after I showered, so I had to go to the front desk since there are no in room phones and my text was not responded to. The hairdryers are kept in a small cabinet across from the front desk in a bottom section. It’s an older hotel but everything seems to be well maintained. There was an adequate selection of breakfast items, though I would’ve liked other fresh fruit in addition to the apples that they always have readily available. Overall, it was a good stay and I would go back to the same hotel if I were visiting Russell or Chariton Iowa again."

"Great location, just two minutes from the boat ramp at the end of the cove. Cozy little cabin which had everything three guys need for an extended weekend fishing trip. The Blackstone was a nice addition (might have to finally buy one of those things)."

"I rented this place for a fishing get away on Rathbun Lake, and this place met all my wants. Boat landing was only 2 min drive away. The patio with the pool and the game room kept my kids and their cousins occupied when they don't want to go fishing. The house was big and roomy for a lot of guests to stay and sleep comfortably. The place was clean. Doug was great and friendly. When we got there, the pool wasn't working, so he came out right away to fix the pool. This place definately made the trip better. A must rent for a large family get away!"

"Booked this great place for a fishing trip and couldn't have been happier with our stay. The house was spotless—everything was clean, fresh, and well-maintained. It even smelled great when we arrived.The hosts were friendly, attentive, and communicated exceptionally well throughout the process. We especially appreciated the pre-bagged ice, which helped keep our cooler cold and ready for our fishing days.The large driveway was another nice bonus, providing plenty of room for both our truck and boat. Overall, it was an excellent experience, and we would definitely consider renting this property again on our next trip."
