The Wallaces Hut

The three Wallace brothers Arthur, William and Stewart built the Wallaces Hut in 1889. It's the oldest standing mountain hut in the Bogong High Plains Alpine National Park and located on the road from Falls Creek to Omeo in the Australian Alps.

No camping within 200m of the hut... apparently... what you can't see in this image are 4 tents set up directly behind the hut which limited me to, well, this one composition. I'm stoked I walked away with this image though :)
The Vic High Country is such a beautiful place, with fun 4wd tracks to breathtaking views over what seems like never ending rugged hills. Littered through out are High Country huts, used as emergency shelter in case situations turn bad while you’re out. This is one such hit, Cope Hut, with some stunning afternoon sun shining through the trees.
