Welcome to our personal home that has been in our family for 30 years. Now that my father is retired and enjoying the camper life, we are opening it up to share with others. It is a 3 bed, 2.5 bath house located just two miles west of Nebraska City on an acre of land. It is extremely private as the closest neighbor is over a half mile away. My favorite part of the property are the Nebraska sunsets and the sights at night. You don’t get stars like these in towns or cities as they are super bright and plentiful on any clear night. Stargazing is best paired with sitting around the firepit with good converstaion. If its firefly season, they provide an amazing experience looking over the fields with thousands of them lighting up the air.
The house can be one level living as the main level has two bedrooms (King in one, Queen in the
other), 2 full bathrooms, the great room, and the laundry room. You can also find access to the
enclosed deck which has the hot tub and an outdoor dining table. If there are mobility concerns,
there are just a couple small steps to get into the house. In the basement, you will find a large family room with pool table, bar area, and couch/tv. There is also a large bedroom in the basement which we have 3 full beds. There is a 3rd half bathroom in the basement but no shower/bath downstairs.
Outside, you will find a paver patio with seating and a gas firepit. There is also plenty of space
to roam including the chicken coop where the chickens and our rooster are typically kept. You are allowed in the chicken coop to get the farm fresh eggs whenever you would like (our young children's favorite thing to do but just keep in mind that it is a chicken coop and not the cleanest). Also, be careful to not antagonize the rooster as it can be protective of the hens.
There are a few Roku televisions in the house, so you are able to hook up your streaming services (no cable provided). We provide plenty of board/card games for your group to enjoy as well as a fair amount of toys for young children. This is still a house that our family uses, so a few family pictures may be left up. While it is very minimalistic when it comes to decor, we do provide plenty of kitchen supplies, towels, gas grill, etc.
We gladly encourage you to bring along your four-legged friends as we do allow pets. Just keep in mind that there is no fenced area in the yard and chickens do roam the grounds at times if they are let out. To help with the extra cleaning and wear and tear, we do charge an additional $20/night/pet. I max this amount out at $100/month so if you are planning to stay longer than 5 days with a pet, please reach out beforehand.
In true acreage style, there may be old cars/trailers found on the grounds. It has been well loved and lived in over the years. There may be some paint splotches, imperfect trim, older cabinets, unorganized wood piles out back, etc. It is located on a gravel road so there will be dust throughout as your time goes on. You may also come across wildlife including rabbits, squirrels, mice, spiders, etc. We do our best to limit and spray the exterior and interior of the house for pests monthly.
