The room was just the right size for two people, very clean and Melissa the host of this wonderful hotel was very friendly and helpful and very attentive wish I could say the same about other places we stayed. This place has no on site parking so during the high season it can be a bit challenging but for the price it’s worth the stay, can’t wait to return again for another few nights. I highly recommend this hotel !

This property is in an excellent location for getting to the beach, restaurants and shops. They are all within a block. It is tucked on the side so a bit hard to locate but once inside it is very clean and well maintained. If you have a vehicle parking is a bit of an issue but do able. I would stay here again.

Although an older hotel, the location 1/2 block to the beach was great with plenty of restaurants and shops close by. The breakfast was located across the square at their other hotel but was plentiful with bread, cheese, meat, coffee, juice and a warm pastel de nata. As is the case in many small European hotels there isn’t an elevator (a note for those with mobility issues). Nice overnight stop and a good value.

We arrived late and the self check in process was easy with clear instructions. The staff was so helpful and friendly, I could not have been more pleased with our experience! We will absolutely return to By The Sea and hopefully for a much longer stay next time!

Perfect location - it really is 'by the sea' and close to the heart of Nazare. Hotel has everything you need. We arrived late but the instructions for checking ourselves in and getting the key worked easily. Finding parking on a Saturday evening was a challenge but the hotel gave us several options before we arrived.

Expedia needs to better represent the hotel and amenities. We did not stay in expected hotel, with roof top pool, sea view, or space. We stayed in Annex named building across the street and down several buildings from the seaside hotel. We were unaware of this as well as the narrow staircases needed to be maneuvered to reach our room. Staff were very helpful to carry our luggage however. Very very small cramped space but clean.

The owners are great. The location is 40 meters from the beach and about the same to the furnicular. Parking is in a deck about a 5 minute walk away.

Amazing location, super friendly and helpful ladies on reception and stunning view from rooftop patio with a hot tub. It was also very clean and bed was really comfy. The only point is the washroom is tiny, but it’s a historical centre, so it would be everywhere. Worth every dollar we paid!

The staff we dealt with on check in and chexk out days were very hospitable, friendly, helpful! Had a little trouble finding the reception door/desk. Great location to beach, restaurants, shopping and the hike up to the lighthouse! In the annex building the staircase is very narrow and steep with low hanging ceiling. Slight challenge with bigger luggage. And my husband hit his head. A lot of people use beach so the square is very busy. Noisy at night with partying and loud music in square until 3 am. That being said it was a Saturday night. So not sure if that would happen every night. Couldnt find parking close by. 15 min walk away.

The location of By the Sea is absolutely perfect, situated right on the main square Praça Sousa Oliveira and just steps from the beautiful Nazaré Beach. The staff was also friendly and welcoming during check-in. However, the accommodations fell a bit short in comfort. The rooms are exceptionally small, making it quite difficult to navigate. The rooms are from the second floor up and there is no elevator. Overall it was ok for the price.
