Beautiful house & fabulous location
Your website does need to include a warning to people staying in the observatory suite. The stairs are quite steep and poorly lit! There is a threshold at the door that we nearly tripped on every time we went up or down the stairs. A rather hazardous situation! Not a good room for older folks…

Best Place in Town
We stayed in Natchez for 4 days. During that time we we did a lot of sightseeing and saw many bed and breakfasts. Even though you do not get breakfast at Clifton House, this is by far the best place to stay. I would highly recommend the Observatory Suite. You have to climb a lot of stairs and we are 70 years old, but totally worth the climb. The view of the Mississippi River from our room is second to none. This was the most relaxing vacation I have had in years and it was due mostly to the accommodations at the Clifton House. I just cannot say enough about this place. I have posted pictures on Facebook and have been telling all my friends in Pensacola that they MUST vacation in Natchez and MUST stay at Clifton House. As you get to the top of the stairs you enter into a little living area complete with couch, television, chair with ottoman, sink, fridge and Keurig coffee make with a small sink nearby. As you walk down the hallway there is a bathroom on the right with a huge walk-in shower that we loved. Besides the sink there was a little table next to the toilet, so there was plenty of room for toiletries. Then there is the bedroom. Oh my goodness. The king size bed was so comfortable. There was a huge dresser, a chest of drawers, two suitcase racks, a chair for sitting, and by the window two swivel rockers with a very large ottoman in the center. All this and plenty of room to walk around. Imaging sitting in one of those rockers with the shades pulled up and watching the sun go down over the Mississippi river. Mark Twain was really onto something when he talked about the Mississippi, and the Clifton House is the best place to experience its majesty. We can hardly wait to go back, hopefully before our knees give out. hahaha.

Poor experience
We have stayed at the Clifton house several times, but have never slept in the observatory. We booked this room for our 27th anniversary. We arrived in town early and could not get into our room due to it being cleaned. When we finally got into the room we noticed the entire seating area by the front window was covered with dead wasps and yellow jackets. Some were still alive. On further inspection we noticed the wasps in every area of the room which is rather large. We called in and were moved to the Audubon room. We received a call from Marla who was very friendly. We do love the Clifton house however we're disappointed that the breakfast was not included with the room anymore. I think new management needs to step it up.
