In addition to the Giant Antpitta, we also got to see a Yellow-breasted Antpitta looking for an easy breakfast. This guy was much smaller, and I can't imagine trying to find one out in the forest.

At Refugio Paz del las Aves, Angel Paz and his family have successfully converted their 70 hectare forest into a world-renowned bird sanctuary. A must visit on any trip to Ecuador.

"I honestly choose a resort, but I accidentally choose this area. However, I would recommend for those who are low budget travelers but who are willing to take a break and rest in their amazing hot springs. They do have hiking trail, but it is the best not to go in the midst of rain. You will slip and get yourself all muddy. I learn that that hard way. "This place is amazing for a quiet and restful stay, also if you want to have a romantic time. Food at the restaurant is really good, although little expensive, otherwise I would do this as my weekend place to lunch or dinner. For sure a recommended place to stay if you want to be close to the city key touristic points, or if you will go up to Pichincha summit "
