"As soon as we walked into the hotel, we could tell it was the perfect hotel. Funky and cool decorating. Delicious food and drinks. Extremely friendly and helpful service (Juliette and all the staff). The hotel room was comfortable with excellent ac and a super cool bathroom set up. The hotel is also safe and secure. We got back late at night and it was gated up but a security guard quickly came to let us in. They gave us an excellent dinner recommendation which after a long day of exploring was perfect. Also the location is so close to the action. We highly recommend this hotel! "

"We absolutely loved our stay here at this beautiful historic converted home. From our arrival through to our departure and everything in between we received nothing short of the most amazing warm Cuban hospitality offered in Old Havana . Richard and his team bent over backwards to make our stay comfortable and memorable at Hostal Balcones. Mariana the manager is an absolute angel who made sure each day for us was easily planned organising bookings and transport along the way. The rest of the beautiful Balcones staff also made us so very much at home that we almost felt like family. It’s a thoughtfully restored historical home that has been filled with eclectic collections of antiques and curiosities and you really feel you are stepping back in time with so much to admire and enjoy. With a very generous breakfast included daily cooked by the lovely Louisandra the chef, to laughs and salsa dancing with our room maid Jordania followed by our vote of the best Mojito in Havana in a tea pot made by Mariana the mixologist manager our stay couldn’t have been more perfect. Do yourself a favour and get a taste of Cuban life in the centre of old Havana by booking your stay at this gem."

"Our stay here was amazing! The entire staff was attentive and accommodating from the day we arrived in Havana. We were picked up from the airport in a classic car (we paid about $30 for the transport) When we arrived at the b and b, a young man who I think manages the facility, Yadir, greeted us on arrival. The facility was pristine. Worth every penny. Our room was absolutely stunning, designed like nothing I’ve ever seen. It was air conditioned with an open floor plan, Godzilla high ceiling, and the bathroom was fully stocked with all the necessary toiletries. In the morning, they have a simple complimentary breakfast of fruit, eggs, and toast, with the best coffee around, and a 24 hour bar on the rooftop. The neighborhood isn’t too bad, and within walking distance (10-20min) of the center of old Havana, where all the restaurants are. If you’re looking to travel to Havana and want an overall stress free introduction to Cuba, I recommend Jesus Maria a thousand times!"

"Great place to stay. Simple and comfortable. Right near the heart of Old Havana, just about an 8-minute walk to Plaza Vieja. And the proprietor was so very helpful and friendly about advice on the city and making arrangements for cabs and tours and other needs of a traveler. Wonderful breakfast was included, many fruits, coffee, eggs, good bread. Room was simple and nice, with a very effective air-conditioner and shower, which helped quite a bit in dealing with the city's heat. Thanks to Juno for all the help. Great bargain and very nice place to stay."

Beatriz was especially helpful in arranging the best tour guide ever, Orlando who was a history professor with perfect English and he took us around in his classic car. The room was very clean and I thought the bed was very comfortable. There are lots of restaurants within easy walking distance as well as museums, and the Prado for the weekend art show. "
