When you are interested in military history, the fortresses of the defense line of Amsterdam are a must see. Build around 1900, it consists of some 46 fortresseses, batteries, dikes, dams and locks. The enemy was partly kept out by inundating the land outside the defense line. The invention of the airplane was a real spoiler for military strategists...

"We were very happy with our booking. The host was pleasant and accommodating. This apt is in a great neighborhood close to many conveniences. The beds were extra comfortable. 2 full bathrooms made this very comfortable. The kitchen is well equipped, clean and pretty. We enjoyed our stay here very much."

"You get what you pay for. This is an amazing ground floor apartment. Very spacious, but it is an older apartment so it is rough and ready. Paul is a helpful host and the beds were comfortable and clean, but do not expect pristine. "

"The apartment is spacious, super clean, and easy to access. We loved staying in one of the quieter neighborhoods away from the tourist areas, but still easily walkable to all the attractions. Highly recommend!"

"Location cannot be beat. Short walk to all things during your Amsterdam visit. Apartment was just as listed - cozy, clean, and everything you need. The two bedroom setup is great for small family, friends, or two couples traveling together. Great host, too. "

"We stayed here for 4 days while we visiting Amsterdam. It was perfect for our family of 3. The space is very comfortable and it was good to come back and relax after a day exploring the city. The neighborhood has lots of stores, restaurants, and is close to public transportation and parks. Would stay here again when we come back to visit."

"This not a real studio as it does not have a bathroom neither a WC, these are outside and shared....and very old style. The location is great."

Ein großer Dank geht an die Mitarbeiter*innen von VRBO, die für uns sofort erreichbar waren und umgehend die Erstattung der Unterkunftskosten veranlassten. Es wurde im Nachhinein sogar die Differenz zwischen der ursprünglich gebuchten Wohnung und dem dann spontan gesuchten Hotel übernommen- auch wenn...

"We stayed three nights and though rooms are small we expected that Loved our view of the canal from our room The reception people were so friendly & helpful Sorry we didn’t get their names but especially the Spanish lad and the Asian girl were super helpful and lovely Would totally recommend Hotel CC it was very central to trains tours and walking about and a laundromat "
