"Property was nice and relaxing; the Elephants at the pool were amazing. Food was good but a menu should be provided at dinner given you order your main course at lunch, and by dinner time you have forgotten what each course is. A couple of times I didn't like the dessert, and if I had had a menu I would have realized and not had the dessert, and therefore not wasted food. Housekeeping may need to be more diligent with the mosquito net as it's opened while guests are out on their morning game...

"The hotel is located in an excellent position for visiting neighbouring towns and sites of interests. It is also very close to Phabeni entry gate to Kruger National Park. The room was very comfortable and if we had time we would have enjoyed relaxing in the garden and beside the pool. "

Dullstroom is evidently the highest town in South Africa at well over 2000 metres above sea level. As such it is somewhat cooler than most of the country and provided a welcome respite. "We first stayed at Bongani Mountain Lodge 15 years ago and returned when we saw it on special over new year. Not much has changed in 15 years. We had a nice time - the food was good and our ranger and tracker were pleasant and informative. I would not rate this lodge as luxury. The room, with a queen size bed, had seen better days and with the thatch roof and poor choice of tiles it always seemed a bit grubby. The game viewing is not great. Unfortunately we had a bad experience with one of the tours we booked, the places visited were great but the transport provided (given advertised as a luxury tour) was unacceptable, a rickety dirty taxi! The owner needs to take better ownership of this, we (group of 10) didn’t get a very good result when speaking to him of this. "
