"The staff at the blue jay pub were absolutely lovely and so helpful ,all i have to say is probably a member of staff needs to be alocated in the hotel to save keep walking to the pub to get extra milk ,sugar and toilet roll ,oh and the doors from the hotel room doors are the most loud and scary ones being slammed for hours and hours on end and the floor from the room above us we were room 108 is the most loudest floor heard every footstep all around there rokm so came back from weekend stay...

"We were stopping at the Lock overnight following a funeral. Reception for check in is in the pub/restaurant (obviously a cost saving exercise). Room was clean and comfortable, no tea/coffee on the drinks tray but to be honest we were so tired we weren’t having one. Comfy bed, room warm enough and minimal noise from guests in other rooms. "

"Room was spacious and looked like in the photos. They do have a big problem with damp but this only really affected the asthetics and didnt affect our stay. The room looks freshly decorated. "

"Have stayed in The Unicorn many times in the past and have been very satisfied however this particular room lacked in a few small things. One side of the double bed did not have any surface to place personal items such as watch, phone and wallet or cash etc. Because of the exceptional large bed there was not enough room for a bedside cabinet on that side but maybe a small shelf would be handy. Also one side of the bed had a light switch but it didn’t appear to do anything, I would have expected...

"Excellent place for a functional overnight stop near M1. Friendly, comfortable and quiet. Can park car right in front of motel-style rooms. Tea & coffee making in room. "

"Great place to stay overnight. Lovely room only hampered by a very stiff door mechanism and a broken bath plug. Room great quality, lots of drink options including extra bottled water, and a very comfy bed and large TV. Breakfast excellent and the staff couldn't have been nicer, both on arrival and in the morning. Plan to use for future visits to the area. "

"Nice enough staff. The pub looked like a 1970’s Benidorm recreation of a British pub with a ceiling full of beer mats. Food was ok but a little overpriced for pub grub. The outside area was filthy. The doors to the outbuildings that house the rooms were ramshackle. The rooms themselves looked like they were last decorated about 30 years ago. The TV was a 20 year old mini tv with free view that didn’t hold the signal. Neither tv or kettle had a PAT testing sticker. The bathroom was grubby...

" For staying while diving at Stoney Cove its perfect. Nothing fancy (which I don't really want anyway....) but comfortable, clean, wam and friendly helpful staff and a very good meal at the pub. Excellent value. I will be staying there again for sure....."

"Firstly, I should say that I did only pay £55 for the night, so I can't expect too much. I just needed a place to crash for the night as I in Leicester to catch up with some friends at the nearby Everards Beer Hall. I opted for this hotel over one of the budget chains as I thought it would have a bit more character. Unfortunately the common areas had a strange musty smell and looked very tired and dirty. The room itself was ok. The bed was on the soft side but I slept fine after a long day...

"Staff very friendly and helpful. Couldn't praise them high enough. Room nice and warm. Relative to cost good value for money. Disappointing there was one cup in room to share. No milk. Tray with sachets of coffee /tea on dirty. Half opened sugar sachet left from previous user. "

"Standard size clean bedding could do with a decor upgrade. No smells, was warm. Shared bathroom could definitely do with a refurb old and tired. But in all if you need a bed for the night it’s fine. "
