"This place was absolutely stunning and perfect for a chance to unplug and unwind. The setting was beautiful and totally secluded but it felt very safe. The cabin had all the necessities and was decorated beautifully. Sitting out on the porch listening to nature and watching deer, turkeys, and a fox was great fun. We were also visited by a small black bear during the nights. We did a lot of hiking at the nearby State Parks so coming back to the hot tub and outdoor daybed was a real treat. So peaceful and relaxing. Our Host, Ryan was great to deal with before and during our stay. He was quick to call and help us find the property when we got a little turned around. There is little to no cell service nearby so guests should be prepared to have written instructions for directions and entry procedures. The only suggestions we had were that there should be some sort of sign or markers at the bottom of the driveway. We also wished there had been a toaster and a kureig machine but we got along fine without. Overall a tremendous experience at a great property. Couples looking for a reconnect trip should not mix this one."

"We love this cabin!! This is the second time we’ve stayed at the Big Ridge Cabin and our stay was just as amazing as the first time! We love the property and all it has to offer. The play set, fire pit, front porch, beautiful property, and cozy cabin make for a wonderful getaway. Even with a rainy weekend we were able to enjoy everything, especially the fireplace inside. Thank you for a wonderful stay, we will be back!"

"This property was peaceful in a way that let us slow down and actually enjoy some time together. We ate supper and played games out on the deck every night, and used the fire pit on the cooler mornings and evenings. The hot tub was a solid bonus. Great after a day of exploring or for warming up after walking in the cold river water. I also spent time reading on the river patio while listening to the water which was very relaxing. The place even sparked some conversations about what we’d want in a future retirement home, and a lot of what’s here made it onto our wish list. Very secluded with little to no traffic passing by. Beautiful views from every angle of the property. It was the right mix of rest, reset, and family time we don’t always get at home.I didn’t have much need to reach out to Ryan, which is a good thing, but when I did he was very helpful and quick to respond, and was very detailed with all of the information we needed beforehand. We did notice a couple of small things: the hallway shower was beautifully tiled but did have some mildew buildup and an odd odor. The Wi‑Fi was also weak upstairs and out on the deck, so we often had to step inside to use our phones or computer. The possibility of an extender would make a big difference.Even with those minor issues, the stay was fantastic. We left feeling refreshed and grateful for this property."

"my husband and I traveled from Little Rock, AR for our 18th wedding anniversary! we are LOTR fans so loved staying at the little shire. it was absolutely precious. we loved hiking at Grayson Highland State Park and visiting nearby towns of Abingdon and Damascus. definitely stop by Grayson Highland general store and inn for lunch!"
