Nestled in the Bankhead National Forest, Pine Torch was built in 1850. Made from poplar logs with oak shingles and a tin roof, it's the perfect example of a log building from that era. It served as both church and school for the area. Nondenominational services are held every Sunday still. Pine Torch is part of the Hallelujah Trail of North Alabama which is a collection of churches over 100 years in age, still residing in the original church site and still holding services today. What a great view back in time prior to electric services for light and heat. You can smell the "oldness" in this one room structure.

"We had a great mini-vacation at Bushy Creek this week. The house was perfect for our family of 6 (and a dog) and was very clean and seemed fairly updated. With 4 bedrooms, 7 beds, and an open living space, there was more than enough space for everyone in our family. There were large “smart” flatscreen TV’s in 3 of the bedrooms, as well as phone chargers and plenty of accessible outlets. Outside, there’s a great porch with ceiling fans and chairs, a nice patio and a fire pit where we had a fire...
